WINE INSPIRED: Maserati Unveils GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello

Celebrating Tradition and Innovation with a Bespoke Creation Inspired by Tignanello Wine...

In its latest collaboration, Maserati has joined Italian winemaker Marchesi Antinori to create a unique model for the brand: the Maserati GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello. This custom-built luxury convertible celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Tignanello, a renowned red wine that has set new standards in the wine industry. The GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello, the latest addition to Maserati’s lineup, stands out as the first 100% electric luxury convertible, epitomizing Italian craftsmanship, tradition, and innovation.

To mark the 50th Anniversary of Tignanello, Maserati crafted a bespoke version of its GranCabrio Folgore. This exclusive vehicle was created for Marchesi Antinori and will be auctioned on July 14 in California at Festival Napa Valley’s Arts for All Gala, one of the leading arts charity events in the United States.

Maserati and Marchesi Antinori share a rich history and a commitment to excellence. With over 600 years of winemaking heritage, Marchesi Antinori has been passed down through 26 generations, symbolizing Italian tradition. Maserati, known for its innovative automotive designs, has pioneered the motoring world for over a century. The collaboration between these two iconic brands highlights their shared values of tradition, innovation, and craftsmanship.

Design Inspired by the Vineyard –

The inspiration for the GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello comes from the vineyard, a symbol of roots and heritage. Maserati has meticulously researched the history and uniqueness of Tignanello to create a car that reflects the wine’s characteristics and values. The exterior features a custom body color, Terra di Tignanello, a chestnut shade inspired by the vineyard’s soil. The paint has a rich, metallic tint reminiscent of the central red hues of Tignanello’s barrels. The rims and calipers come in matte and gloss black, while the emblems are copper-colored, with the Maserati logo in glossy copper on a gloss background.

The interior of the GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello is a testament to craftsmanship and innovation. The seats are upholstered in a multi-material silver and burgundy ribbed weave made of Vegea, an innovative fabric derived from vineyards. This material, used for the first time in a Maserati, resembles leather and is inspired by the rows of vines on the Tignanello hill. Dark briar wood with laser etching, reminiscent of the oak barrels used in winemaking, adorns the panels. The headrests feature elegant embroidery combining the Maserati Trident with Tignanello’s sun emblem, a distinctive feature on the wine’s label.

Performance and Technology –

The GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello is not just about looks; it boasts impressive performance and advanced technology. As the first 100% electric luxury convertible in the market, it offers outstanding performance thanks to its battery system based on 800-volt technology, developed with cutting-edge solutions from Formula E. This technology ensures exceptional performance while maintaining the comfort and elegance typical of Maserati.

The GranCabrio Folgore provides four proper seats, made possible by the soft top. It includes innovative features such as a neck warmer for comfortable open-top driving even in cooler temperatures and a wind stopper to reduce turbulence inside the passenger compartment.

Quotes from the Visionaries –

Klaus Busse, Maserati Head of Design, expressed his pride in the collaboration: “This partnership with Marchesi Antinori allows us to epitomize the essence of bespoke production, the flagship of our Maserati Fuoriserie customization program. It is designed to create ad-hoc experiences for Trident customers by producing tailor-made cars that can make the driving experience even more sublime and distinctive, just like an outstanding wine at the table. Telling a story of Italian excellence is a source of pride for us and serves as a constant stimulus for our work.”

Piero Antinori, representing the Antinori family, shared his excitement: “A never-ending challenge, the obsession to improve and constantly question ourselves to find higher and higher quality margins: these are the cornerstones of the collaboration with Maserati, a brand acknowledged worldwide as a symbol of Made in Italy quality. A one-of-a-kind model, inspired by Tignanello for its 50th Anniversary, a car with a great identity and recognizability, just like our wine. This initiative makes our family particularly proud: this special GranCabrio Folgore will be auctioned at Festival Napa Valley’s 2024 Arts for All Gala, with the proceeds to be donated to charity.”

Bids by proxy are accepted. For further info, don’t hesitate to contact Festival Napa Valley.
