Western Mopar Madness Is This Weekend:
First Ever Western Mopar Madness Show At Castrol Raceway
This Saturday, July 27th, will be the first running of the Western Mopar Madness event being held at Castrol Raceway in Nisku, Alberta, Canada. Determined to make this the largest Mopar show in western Canada, Western Mopar Madness organizers seem to have an exciting event planned out.
There will be drag racing on the quarter-mile dragstrip, a car show, a burnout competition, 23 trophy classes and much more. There will be a few historic Mopars in attendance as well such as “Old Trapper” a 1967 Plymouth GTX Super Stock car. Old Trapper was made famous in the late 60’s drag racing in Western Canada and parts of the United States. This car was also the only Canadian car to qualify for the 1968 Super Stock World Finals in Tulsa, OK.
This show looks to have something for everyone, with classes from the classic A, B, C, and E body cars, late model Mopars, AMC, Jeep, wing cars, etc., it should be a fascinating show to attend.
While we, unfortunately, could not make it out to this year’s show, we will make sure to be in attendance next year.
Gates open at 8:00 am on Saturday, July 27th and the show will run until 5 pm. Drag Racing will run from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. If you are a Mopar fan local to Edmonton, Alberta and don’t have anything planned for this Saturday, this should be a show worth checking out.
