We Take A Look At The 2020 Jeep® Renegade Lineup:
Jeep Compact Offering Doesn't Disappoint...
Coming hot off a redesign last year, the Jeep® Renegade returns for the 2020 model year. For 2019, the Renegade got more of an aggressive look thanks to new front and rear fascias, a new 1.3-liter turbocharged inline-four-cylinder engine mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission, as well as a bunch of new technology features. So what does the 2020 model year hold in store for the compact global Jeep? Let’s take a look at the 2020 Jeep Renegade lineup.
The Jeep Renegade comes into 2020 with four core models (Sport, Latitude, Renegade, and Limited). We say core because just like the 2019 model year, there will be a few special editions offered throughout the year. This will include the Sport-based Upland model and Limited-based High Altitude.
As for powertrains, the Renegade continues to offer a choice of two four-cylinder engines for the 2020 model year. The standard engine for the Sport and Latitude models is the 2.4-liter Tigershark inline-four-cylinder which makes 180 horsepower and 175 lb.-ft. of torque. Standard on Limited and Trailhawk models (optional on Sport and Latitude), providing 177 horsepower and 210 lb.-ft. of torque.
When it comes to offroad capability, the Renegade is class-leading like a Jeep should be. The Renegade offers both Jeep Active Drive and Active Drive Low 4×4 systems. This includes the Jeep Selec-Terrain system, which provides up to five different modes (automatic, snow, sand, mud, plus a rock model that is exclusive to Trailhawk models). Renegade features a class-exclusive disconnecting rear axle and power take-off unit (PTU) to optimize fuel efficiency on 4×4 models.
The Trail Rated Renegade Trailhawk continues to offer best-in-class 4×4 capability with its standard Jeep Active Drive Low system, 21.5:1 crawl ratio, 8.7-inches of ground clearance, skid plates, up to 8.1-inches of wheel articulation, Hill-Descent Control, up to 19-inches of water fording capability, and up to 2,000 lbs. towing capacity. Of course, Renegade Trailhawk models feature unique front and rear fascias to maximize approach and departure angles.
Renegade continues to offer the MySky open-air roof panel system, which allows you to pull the remove panels off to expose a panoramic view of the outside world. This gives Renegade owners a Wrangler-like open-world experience while cruising or offroading. The MySky panels can conveniently be stored in the Renegade’s rear cargo area.
Of course, Renegade also continues to lead the segment with more than 70 standard and available safety and security features. This includes Forward Collision Warning-Plus, LaneSense Departure Warning-Plus, and optional Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).
New for 2020, the popular mid-level 2.4-liter Latitude models are getting a lot of attention. Those models will now have several new features including LED Lighting Group (LED headlamps, daytime running lamps, taillamps, fog lamps). Also, the 2.4-liter Latitude models will get a new optional 19-inch wheel and both the Latitude with the 2.4-liter Latitude, Sport and Upland models will get a new Advanced Tech Group package option. The Advanced Tech Group includes Forward Collision Warning-Plus with Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning-Plus with Lane Keep Assist, adaptive cruise control, ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist with front and rear park sensors, automatic high-beam headlamps.
The Safety & Security Group is now being made available for the Sport and Upland models for 2020. The package includes Blind-Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path detection, rain-sensing windshield wipers, security alarm, and a cargo area tonneau cover.
A new Kenwood premium nine-speaker audio system with subwoofer will be available on Latitude, Trailhawk, and Limited models. This new audio system will be a late-availability option but should be a welcome to all those who are audiophiles out there.
There will also be a new Global Telematics Box Module standard on all models later in the 2020 model year. This will allow the Renegade to connect to the Internet and to a Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) specific Service Delivery Platform, which is cloud-based and designed to support technology updates, support service portfolios, guarantee maximum cybersecurity, as well as easy interface and integration for service providers.
For 2020, there is Renegade offers ten available colors which include Alpine White Clear Coat, Bikini Clear Coat , Black Clear Coat, Colorado Red Clear Coat, Glacier Metallic Clear Coat, Granite Crystal Clear Coat, Jetset Blue Metallic Clear Coat, Omaha Orange Clear Coat, Slate Blue Pearl Coat, and Sting Grey Clear Coat.
