We Attend The Texas Mopar Clubs Annual BBQ “Meat” In Luling, Texas!
Over 100 Cars Participated In The Event...
Modern Mopar cruising is alive and well, down in Texas. Multiple Mopar clubs hit the road on January 30th, between Houston, San Antonio, and Austin en route to Luling, Texas for the Space City LX Modern Mopar club annual “Meat” and Greet. This event continues to grow with the Alamo City LX Modern Mopar (ACLX) club and other central Texas Mopar clubs joining together for a day of comradery and great barbecue.
The group filled most of the available parking around the City Market barbecue. City Market is a renowned barbecue restaurant that has been operating in Luling since 1958. This year my wife and kids came along and we filled up on City Market brisket and sausage. Many of the ACLX guys decided to head over to Luling BBQ, a smaller barbeque joint just down the street to avoid the normally long line at City Market. There they enjoyed brisket, sausage, turkey, and ridiculously thick pork chops nonetheless. It’s just hard to beat good barbecue whether you go to City Market or Luling BBQ.
There was an eclectic group of Mopars that made the trip. Everything from various Chargers, Challengers, 300s, Grand Cherokee SRTs, a brand-new Ram 1500 TRX, and even a 1980s Ramcharger. There were 108 cars in total at the last count of the event. Even with the pandemic, this event is not slowing down and has continued to be a January tradition.
We enjoyed our time together looking at cars and talking to old friends who we weren’t permitted to see during the pandemic. Everyone had an amazing time and we were happy to spend some time cruising in the MoparInsiders long-term 2016 Dodge Charger SRT392 and got the opportunity to enjoy some great food and spending time with friends.
We recommend that you look for your local Mopar club and take advantage of joining a group and experiencing what some of them have to offer.
