TSR Nitro Teams Gear Up for Battle in Norwalk

Stewart Leads Top Fuel Standings by 51 Points...

Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) is locked and loaded for this weekend’s Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. With Dodge’s headquarters just 150 miles north in Auburn Hills, Michigan, the event is as close to a home race as it gets for the Direct Connection-backed team—and the stakes are high for both drivers and manufacturer.

Top Fuel driver Tony Stewart enters the event leading the championship standings by 51 points over Shawn Langdon. This weekend marks his 30th career Top Fuel start and second Norwalk appearance in the category. Though he’s still chasing his first Top Fuel win at Norwalk, Stewart is confident heading into the weekend.

“Our friends from Dodge have been so supportive of this program,” Stewart said. “Honestly, they were the first piece in the puzzle of building this NHRA team. Having them at the races is a big deal for us. I’m going into the weekend with a strong focus. It was a tough Saturday in Richmond, but I’m ready to rip at Norwalk with high determination to deliver for ourselves and our partners.”

Stewart will also compete in the Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty Challenge, which features a rematch with Langdon during Saturday qualifying. His consistent performance this season—still with no first-round losses—speaks to the progress TSR has made, thanks in part to technical partner Converge Technology Solutions.

“The data analytics are way above my pay grade,” Stewart joked. “But watching what Converge has brought to our program has been impressive. We couldn’t get the car down the track last year—this year we’re seeing results. It’s been fun to be in those meetings and see how far we’ve come.”

Hagan Returns to Familiar Ground –

Funny Car ace Matt Hagan enters Norwalk sitting fifth in points, 195 behind leader Austin Prock. He’s no stranger to success at this venue, having won in 2018 and earned the No. 1 qualifier in 2015 and 2017.

“We have a longstanding relationship with Dodge. I’ve been with them over 15 years, so it’s always great to bring their corporate folks out and show them what we’re doing on the racetrack,” Hagan said. “We want to put our best foot forward. We’re here to put American muscle on the racetrack, so hopefully we can show up to Norwalk and put on a good show for Dodge and all the fans.”

Hagan will also compete in the #2Fast2Tasty Funny Car Challenge, aiming to lock in extra points and a bit of momentum as the season hits its halfway point.

Fan Access and Schedule Highlights –

TSR drivers will be busy off the track too, with multiple autograph sessions and merchandise signings scheduled throughout the weekend. Stewart, Hagan, and Leah Pruett will be signing at the Dodge display and the Tony Stewart Store trailer, while Stewart will also appear at the Mission Foods tent for a #2Fast2Tasty Challenge session.

Factory stock is my thing. Dodge will need a Hemi in a new, smaller car to compete. Great seeing those Challengers, with a bigger frontal area and more air to move doing so well. Go Dodge!
