The 2023 Mecum Kissimmee Summer Special auction will feature a fully restored 1969 Dodge Super Bee Custom, which classic car enthusiasts won’t want to miss. This vehicle underwent an extensive nut and bolt rotisserie restoration, spanning approximately 4,000 hours, resulting in a pristine example of automotive craftsmanship. With only 544 miles on the odometer, this Super Bee Custom is set to go under the hammer on Friday, July 7th, attracting potential buyers seeking a meticulously restored vintage muscle car.

The 1969 Dodge Super Bee Custom underwent a comprehensive nut and bolt rotisserie restoration, leaving no detail overlooked. The restoration process involved completely refurbishing or replacing every component to achieve exceptional authenticity and visual appeal.

This Super Bee Custom is equipped with a 7.0-liter (426 cubic-inch) HEMI® V8 engine, rebuilt by Best Machine of Farmington, Michigan. The engine delivers robust performance and is mated to a heavy-duty TorqueFlite automatic transmission, ensuring smooth power delivery and an engaging driving experience.

This Super Bee Custom interior features a new matching Blue Legendary interior, maintaining the car’s original design and charm. Notably, the inclusion of air conditioning adds modern comfort to this classic vehicle.

Throughout the restoration process, great care was taken to ensure authenticity. The Super Bee Custom includes the correct HEMI K-frame member, core support, and leaf springs, staying true to its heritage. New NOS glass was also installed, providing clear visibility and preserving the car’s original aesthetic.

In addition to its original specifications, this Super Bee Custom boasts several performance enhancements. These include a new Dana rear differential with 3.55 Moser axles for improved traction, a CVF 8-rib serpentine kit, and dual electric fans for enhanced engine cooling, and a set of billet Schott wheels (20×8.5 inches in the front and 20×12 inches in the rear) paired with Redline tires (255/30/20 front and 315/35/20 rear) for both style and performance. To ensure optimal stopping power, the Super Bee Custom is equipped with a Wilwood brake kit featuring Red calipers on both the front and rear wheels.

This Super Bee Custom engine features several notable components to enhance performance. These include a nitrided Comp Cams hydraulic camshaft, Comp Cams Mopar High Energy hydraulic lifters, an Avon Pro Gear timing chain, and a Melling M63HV BB Mopar oil pump. The cut and polished crankshaft, Clevite rod bearings, and Diamond HEMI pistons with altered bore size contribute to the engine’s durability and performance.
