The Updated 2022 Jeep® Compass Makes Its Debut In Mexico:
Mexican Market Will NOT Get The Off-Road-Oriented Trailhawk...
The recently updated 2022 Jeep® Compass (MP) has made its official debut on the Mexican market. With an impressive interior redesign and the addition of several advanced safety features, the updated Compass is one of the most desirable 2022 models in the compact SUV segment.
While the updated model has a strong aesthetic character, the exterior has been updated with new front-end styling that looks more like an evolution of the current Jeep Grand Cherokee (WK2) than the outgoing Compass. The front has been redesigned to project a refined and confident attitude. A more detailed and modern fascia encompasses the new seven-bar grille surrounded by glossy black accents that draw attention to the sleek and expressive new LED lights. The lower grille is proportionally larger to maximize engine cooling while adding a distinctive image to your custom appearance.
What really stands out about the Compass update is the completely revamped interior. The goal of the Compass interior design team was to ensure that the Compass offered a superior experience and greater functionality.
The instrument panel (I/P) features a new design that adds dimension and stands out for its modern materials and technical elements. The clean, horizontal theme visually expands the interior volume while providing modularity and organization. The redesigned I/P features a lined center surface supported by a sharp accent that runs the entire length of the dash seamlessly integrating the new HVAC system air vents. A contrasting decor, located just below the front panel, adds a richness of textures to the interior experience.
The glossy black center console houses the 8.4-inch and 10.1-inch high-definition touchscreens. All screens serve to prominently project the Uconnect 5 system and are positioned in the center of the instrument panel to give the driver even more access.
The cockpit is carefully designed and features a new 10.25-inch frameless full-color TFT digital cluster, the largest in the segment. The new Compass offers consumers new levels of comfort, luxury, and safety. Features include leather, heated front seats, heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, 8-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar adjustment, remote start, and a panoramic dual-panel sunroof, among others.
The 2022 Jeep Compass offers more than 75 safety and security features, including applications of innovative technologies that inspire driving confidence, a feature for which the Jeep brand is widely recognized.
Among the safety elements and systems, both standard and optional in the 2022 Compass, the following stand out: Kneeling airbag for the driver, front and rear curtain sides, front bags for driver and passenger, multistage and front sides, ABS, Assistance Brake System (RBS), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Tire Pressure Monitoring System, All-Speed Traction Control (TCS), Electronic Roll Assist System (ERM), Car Seat Anchor System children (LATCH), remote access key, speed-sensitive electric locks, rain-sensitive windshield, among others.
The biggest disappointment of the updated Compass has to be what lies under the hood. Instead of putting the much more responsive and fun to drive turbocharged 1.3-liter FireFly inline-four-cylinder from the Stellantis Global Small Engine (GSE) family as it did for South America and Europe, Jeep will carryover the lackluster naturally-aspirated 2.4-liter Tigershark inline-four. The Tigershark delivers 177 horsepower and 172 lb.-ft. of torque and is paired to either a 6-speed automatic (front-wheel-drive) or 9-speed automatic (4×4).
The Tigershark carries over the same fuel economy ratings of 22 city, 31 highway, and 24 combined on front-wheel-drive models and 22 city, 30 highway, and 25 combined on 4×4 models.
The Mexican market 2022 Jeep Compass will have 4 trim levels to choose from (Latitude, Limited, Limited Premium, and High Altitude). Unfortunately, there will not be a Trailhawk model for the Mexican market at this time. The Latitude model has a starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $556,900 MXN (or about $27,410 USD). The rest of Compass pricing looks like this…
- Compass Latitude – $556,900 MXN (or about $27,410 USD)
- Compass Limited – $599,900 MXN (or about $29,527 USD)
- Compass Limited Premium – $629,900 MXN (or about $31,003 USD)
- Compass High Altitude – $669,900 MXN (or about $32,972 USD)
The North American-spec 2022 Jeep Compass is built at the Toluca Assembly Plant in Toluca, Mexico. The 1.6 million sq. ft. facility has been manufacturing the Compass since January 16th, 2017.
