Stellantis Canada Will Require Everyone Entering Their Facilities To Be Fully-Vaccinated:

Reports from last week indicate that Detroit’s Big-3 automakers will require their Canadian workforce to be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. Ford Motor Company, General Motors (GM), and Stellantis will follow similar procedures going into effect by the end of the year, says a report from The Detroit News posted last Thursday. The decision does not affect United States operations for Detroit’s Big-3 automakers, but it continues the global argument of vaccinated vs. non-vaccinated in the workplace.

Stellantis has released in an official press release that it will “require all employees, contractors, service provider workers, and visitors at Stellantis sites in Canada to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and to provide proof of vaccination status prior to entering a Stellantis facility.” Stellantis stated that the policies will go into effect on Sunday, December 17th. 

Stellantis says that it will look at medical or religious exemptions on a case-by-case basis. Anyone entering the company’s facilities must present proof of vaccination in accordance with recommendations from the Ministry of Health and Provincial Health Officer.

“Since vaccines have become available, Stellantis has continued to strongly advocate for our employees to get vaccinated as the best way to protect against the transmission and reduce the severity of the illnesses associated with COVID-19,” Stellantis said in its press release.

The fourth-largest automaker in the world operates three manufacturing plants in Canada. Those plants include the Windsor Assembly Plant in Windsor, Ontario which builds the Chrysler Pacifica, Chrysler Voyager, and Chrysler Grand Caravan. In the Toronto suburb of Brampton, the Brampton Assembly Plant manufactures builds the Chrysler 300 Series, Dodge Charger, and Dodge Challenger. Another Toronto-based plant, the Etobicoke Casting facility manufactures numerous aluminum die castings for a variety of Chrysler, Jeep_®, Dodge, and Ram vehicles.

Stellantis also operates two other major facilities for its Canadian operations in the Windsor area. Besides having its Canadian headquarters located in downtown Windsor, and the Automotive Research and Development Centre (ARDC) facility which is is equipped with six road-test simulators, proprietary software development, and a range of research and development support facilities.
