NAIAS Show Has Been Canceled… Rescheduled For 2021:

Detroit Auto Show Was Supposed To Have Some Important Launches For FCA...

The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) has announced that it has canceled its show scheduled for June 2020, due to the COVID-19 (or Coronavirus) pandemic sweeping across the world and specifically the Metro Detroit area. NAIAS has been among the biggest auto shows in the world and recently revamped the show’s schedule from the cold Detroit winter season to the warm Michigan summer. Instead, the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be repurposing the TCF Center (formerly named Cobo Center) into a temporary field hospital.

This is a huge blow to Mopar fans, who have been waiting for some exciting news about the upcoming new products coming to the FCA portfolio. Rumors were saying that both the Jeep® and Ram Trucks brands had two massive product introductions for the NAIAS show that was scheduled for this summer. Those two vehicles were the all-new three-row next-generation Jeep® Grand Cherokee and the upcoming supercharged off-roader Ram 1500 Rebel TRX.

We have talked a lot about the upcoming Jeep Grand Cherokee in detail. Recently, we posted some recent spy photos of the upcoming three-row Grand Cherokee out testing near the FCA US Headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Originally two separate facilities (one of which was not being used and the other used for Pentastar engine production), the new Mack Avenue facility will be home to the Grand Cherokee three-row and the upcoming Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in electric vehicle (PHEV) and the Grand Cherokee three-row 4xe PHEV model. The two-row variant is expected to be assembled alongside the updated 2021 Dodge Durango at the Jefferson North Assembly Plant, with both plants being located in the city of Detroit.

The upcoming 2021 Ram 1500 Rebel TRX, is another vehicle that our sister site 5thGenRams.com has discussed in detail. This past weekend, we showcased a couple of the TRX prototypes out testing on the Metro Detroit highways. The new HELLCAT-powered Ram off-roader will go head-to-head with Ford’s F-150 Raptor. Scheduled for a September production launch at the Metro Detroit-based Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Sterling Heights, Michigan, the TRX was going to be one of the biggest unveilings at the NAIAS show.

We don’t know when FCA will unveil these vehicles to the public, but there is a growing list of products that were scheduled to make official debuts this year. Stay tuned as MoparInsiders.com will continue to bring the latest on the upcoming launch of all future FCA product.
