The 2020 Dodge Durango Pursuit Returns To Duty:

With all of the equipment, law enforcement officers have to carry with them on a daily basis it is no surprise that agencies are ditching cars to move to bigger SUVs. Additional equipment like computers, radios, tactical gear, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, and tons of written paperwork forms are just some of the gear that officers require when the go out for patrol.

While companies like Ford who have ditched their Taurus-based Police Interceptor in favor of the much more popular Explorer Police Interceptor or General Motors (GM) who is dropping their full-size Chevrolet Impala, the Dodge Charger remains the only full-size sedan on the market made for law enforcement fleets. To make sure Dodge has a strong foothold on the market, this past year Dodge introduced its Durango Pursuit. The first Durango law enforcement vehicle to receive the Pursuit nameplate.

Models equipped with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 come with a 3.45 axle ratio which is capable of 6,200 lbs. of towing. Durango Pursuit models powered by the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 come standard with a 3.09 axle ratio and a 7,200 lbs. of towing capacity. Both models feature more towing capacity than the 2020 Ford Explorer Interceptor, which is rated at 5,000 lbs.

The 2020 Dodge Durango Pursuit features a starting U.S. Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $34,370. That is only $2,045 more than the MSRP of the 2020 Dodge Charger Pursuit. The Durango Pursuit is significantly cheaper than the 2020 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor, which has a starting of MSRP around $37,500 for the non-hybrid models. That leaves agencies more money in their pockets for upfitting.

For those who are wondering, the 5.7-liter HEMI equipped Durango Pursuit has a top speed of 120 mph. That speed was achieved by the Michigan State Police. The HEMI-Powered Durango Pursuit can reach 0 to 60 mph in 7.1 seconds and 0 to 100 mph in 17 seconds.

The 2020 Dodge Durango Pursuit is available in nine colors, Billet Clear Coat, Blue Shade Pearl, DB Black Crystal, Destroyer Gray, Granite Crystal Metallic, In-Violet Metallic, Octane Red Pearl, Vice White Tri-Coat Pearl, and White Knuckle.
