Maserati Will Hold A Global Premiere For The Grecale In November!

The New Italian Premium D-SUV Continues The Marque's Renaissance...

The Maserati brand announced this week that it will hold its global premiere for the 2022 Maserati Grecale on Tuesday, November 16th, in Milano, Italy. Named after a Mediterranean wind, it marks a tradition dating back to 1963, starting with the Maserati Mistral that the Maserati brand has named several models after various winds (Ghibli, Bora, Khamsin, and Levante).

Based on the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, the Grecale will be the second SUV offered by the Italian marque. It will be the brand’s first D-segment SUV and will slot in just below the Levante E-segment SUV, which made its debut back in 2016. Grecale will feature a trio of powertrains, consisting of internal combustion engines (ICEs), mild-hybrid electric (mHEV), and eventually battery-electric (BEV) options.

The BEV model is expected to appear in the Maserati lineup sometime later in 2022, according to our sources. Expect Maserati to show off the Maserati ICE and mHEV offerings during the vehicle launch debut.

Over the past several months, we have seen various Grecale prototypes out testing on public roads in Italy. Those vehicles and a bizarre post on an online auction site featuring various parts for the Grecale have given us a good picture of what the all-new SUV will look like once it hits dealers.

Our sources have indicated that Grecale will feature a trio of trims, following in the steps of the 2022 Maserati Levante. This includes the entry-level GT trim which focuses on a more urban, minimal, and contemporary spirit, suitable for the dynamic and curious global citizens who are fashion-conscious but with their own sophisticated, original style. The Modena trim is for customers who are sports enthusiasts as a means to enjoying their time and the context to the full. For people looking for a balance of innate elegance, dynamism, and fun-to-drive. While the top tier Trofeo represents the maximum performance of Maserati’s personality with the focus firmly on performance, without sacrificing comfort.
