More than a decade has passed since the Ram Truck brand became its own independent brand. Ram has continued to expand its offerings across the globe in several markets with such success. Back in 2005, Ram launched its Ram 2500 in the Brazilian market, giving rural buyers a Heavy Duty option to perform their jobs flawlessly. Since the introduction of the revised fourth-generation Ram 2500 Laramie Crew Cab 4×4 in the Brazilian market in 2019, sales for the Heavy Duty offering has skyrocketed.
This has caused the Ram brand to reevaluate the market and since introducing the all-new 2021 Fiat Strada (also known as the Ram 700 in other Latin American countries) with much success, it shows that the truck boom is growing strong in Brazil. With that being said, Ram Brazil has released a teaser showcasing the Ram 1500 and a date of Thursday, December 10th, 2020 for an unveiling of the half-ton offering in the Brazilian marketplace.
Recently, one of the followers of our sister site HDRams.com caught a pair of Ram 1500 Rebel Crew Cab 4x4s stopped at a rest area in Brazil while doing some testing. While both trucks featured minor camouflage, it is clear that there are very few changes to the Brazilian-spec model.
While the 2020 Ram 2500 Laramie Crew Cab 4×4 powered by the 6.7-liter Cummins inline-six-cylinder turbodiesel being the only model to be available in the marketplace, it is safe to say that the Rebel might be the only Ram 1500 model to be offered there as well. The testers caught in Brazil were both powered by the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 delivering 395 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque. We also expect that the Crew Cab model with the 5-foot, 7-inch box will be the only configuration available.
