Digital Artist Creates Modern-Day Dodge Magnum

New Charger Is A Hatchback, Why Not Make It A Wagon?

In the world of automotive design, sometimes, the past inspires the future. That’s precisely the case with digital artist Jim Lord’s (@jlord8) latest creation: a modern interpretation of the iconic Dodge Magnum. While the Magnum may have been discontinued years ago, its spirit lives on in a stunning new digital concept.

The original Dodge Magnum, a four-door wagon, was a trailblazer in the modern HEMI muscle car era. Despite its short production span, it left an indelible mark on automotive enthusiasts with its powerful performance and distinctive design. Now, jlord8 has taken that legacy and brought it into the 21st century.

Drawing inspiration from Dodge’s recent unveiling of the all-electric Charger Daytona, Jim envisioned a new generation of Magnum that embraces both tradition and innovation. His concept retains the Magnum’s wagon form but imbues it with the sleek lines and aggressive stance of the modern Charger.

Much like the Charger coupe and sedan, his Magnum concept features a hatchback design, offering enhanced utility without sacrificing style. Whether it’s the all-electric Daytona version or the internal combustion engine (ICE) Charger variants, the idea of a modern Magnum promises exhilarating performance and practicality.

Under the hood, the new Charger doesn’t disappoint. So, a Magnum could have some amazing power in both ICE or electric variants.

For the ICE variants, power comes from a duo of potent engines. The standard model boasts a 420-horsepower twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter HURRICANE I6, while the high-performance SIX PACK Coupe churns out an impressive 550 horsepower.

For those who crave even more power, the Daytona models deliver an electrifying performance. With a 400-volt powertrain, the R/T trim offers 496 horsepower as standard for the 2024 model year, dropping slightly to 456 horsepower for 2025. Meanwhile, the Scat Pack model boasts a staggering 670 horsepower in 2024, courtesy of the Direct Connection eStage 2 upgrade, which is reduced to 590 horsepower for the 2025 model year.

Either powertrain would be a prominent jump over the Magnum’s original engine portfolio, even the SRT-8’s 6.1-liter HEMI V8, which delivered 425 horsepower. Lord’s concept pays homage to the Magnum’s legacy.

Go on.

For all that I like that the new Charger is a sportback, a wagon would be even better.
