New Subcompact Alfa Romeo UV Will Be Named “Milano”

Will Join The Jeep® Avenger and Fiat 600e At Tychy For Production...

It’s no secret that Alfa Romeo has been working on an all-new subcompact utility vehicle (UV) for some time now. Internally known as the “Kid,” this B-segment Alfa Romeo will focus on the European marketplace, marking the brand’s first all-electric vehicle offering as it transitions toward mostly an all-electric lineup by 2028.

While various names have circulated for this new entry, Alfa Romeo has decided to reveal both the vehicle’s name and an official reveal date. A press conference is scheduled for April 2024 in Milan to unveil the new Alfa Romeo Milano. The name pays homage to the Italian brand’s roots in Milan, Italy, and draws inspiration from the successful Jeep® Avenger and Fiat 600e B-UVs, which have garnered numerous awards in the European market.

The Milano is expected to utilize the same propulsion systems found in the Avenger and 600e, with potential for a higher-performance (Quadrifoglio) model to follow in 2025.

Currently, both vehicles feature an all-electric powertrain consisting of a 400-volt front-mounted electric motor manufactured by Emotors. Boasting 154 horsepower (115 kW) and 192 lb.-ft. of torque, these models are equipped with a 54 kWh battery pack, delivering an impressive WLTP range of up to 400 km (250 miles) or 550 km (340 miles) in an urban cycle.

We anticipate the new Milano to start arriving at dealerships shortly after its unveiling. This new Alfa will be produced alongside the Avenger and 600e at the Stellantis Tychy Assembly Plant in Poland.

Like the Jeep Avenger, I predict the Milano will and must offer a hybrid version. I predict, with some trepidation that the Avenger and Milano will offer fully gas powered models eventually as the all electric movement, that is collapsing by the minute, comes to grips with market realities. This is a gorgeous vehicles, striking even, but it may fail because of group think self inflicted fatal corporate decisions and insane government rules. I stand on my predictions as manufacturers trumpet a full retreat away from the battle lines of environmental excess. Save the Milano and give it GAS.
