UAW Contract Brings Out Some New Details On Upcoming TRX Model:

Hellcat-Powered Ram Off-Roader To Launch In 2020...

The negotiations list between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and the United Auto Workers (UAW) has released some new information about the upcoming Hellcat-powered Ram 1500 TRX and backs up some of the information that we have released in recent months on our sister site, 5thGenRams.com.

According to the official documents released before the UAW went to a vote, FCA is looking to invest an additional $210 million into the recently updated Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP) to build the upcoming Ram 1500 TRX. The documents state that the TRX will launch in 2020 and will add 200 new workers to SHAP’s workforce to build the upcoming Hellcat off-roader.

Our sources at SHAP, recently told us that work has already started on updating parts of the assembly line to accommodate the new Ram performance truck. This includes a new hood line, for the rumored new styled hood with massive ram-air intake scoop. Several other things on the line will also be modified to allow TRX-specific parts to be adapted to the already busy SHAP line.

We are also hearing that SHAP should be online to build production-spec prototypes sometime in the spring. This means we will be seeing vehicles looking closer to the final product, unlike the number of lifted all-black prototypes that we have been seeing around Metro Detroit and other parts of Michigan. The 5thGenRams team is expecting the TRX to make its official public debut at the 2020 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, Michigan in June. The production of the TRX should start around the fourth-quarter of 2020 as a 2021 model.

Stay tuned as we continue to bring you the latest on Ram’s upcoming performance offroader.
