Maserati has officially marked its return to racing with the track debut of the high-performance GT2 at the Autodromo Varano de’ Melegari. The Parma circuit shakedown was a precursor to a series of events leading up to the car’s official unveiling at the 24 Hours of Spa in Belgium in June.

The Italian luxury car manufacturer is ready to revive its legacy in GT championships with a new car designed to embody the exploits of its predecessor, the victorious MC12. Maserati has a long and successful history in motorsport, spanning almost a century, with a unique and distinctive DNA that is being reignited by the brand’s link with its potent legacy from the past and its drive towards the future.

The Maserati GT2 is a masterpiece of speed, elegance, style, and innovation, designed to celebrate Maserati’s return to the circuits. The car is part of the brand’s strategy to bring the Trident back on track, which began with its announcement of participation in the 2023 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship and inclusion in the GT2 European Series in late 2022.

Maserati engineers and the Centro Stile Maserati designed the GT2 to meet the brand’s aesthetic quality standards while inheriting the extraordinary 630 horsepower (463kW) twin-turbocharged Nettuno V6 engine from the Maserati MC20. The car’s most appealing technical specifications include the patented MTC (Maserati Twin Combustion) technology based on F1 engines, the ultra-light carbon fiber central monocoque, and the lightweight full composite bodywork with optimized aerodynamic features.

The GT2 has a quick-release removable bodywork for optimized component replacement and a chassis with high torsional and bending stiffness. The power steering is full-electric, and all suspension and electronics components are specific racing components. The car also features a 6-speed sequential racing gearbox and steering wheel paddle shift with an electrical rotary gearshift actuator.
