Jeep® Teases All-New Full-Size Wagoneer For First Time:

Full-Size Grand Wagoneer Teaser Shows Up On Social Media...

The Jeep® brand has been playing its cards pretty close to its chest when it comes to its upcoming 2022 Jeep® Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer (WS) models. However, earlier today, the iconic off-road brand teased the upcoming full-size SUVs with a post on social media showcasing the word “Grand”!

The news also comes only a few days after one of the platform mules for the Wagoneer, was caught in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) doing some extreme off-road and hot weather testing. Of course, the particular mule did not show us anything new when compared to the Ram 1500-bodied mules we have seen around the United States. But you can check out all of the photos on the Gulf News website

New information released during the second-quarter financial report from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), have an updated timeline for the new Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. Production of the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer has been pushed back to the second quarter of 2021, due to a delay in construction at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant (WTAP) of updated facilities to manufacture the new full-size models.

The MoparInsiders.com team recently broke down some of the upcoming Grand Wagoneer’s features, touting how the new full-size luxury Jeep model, might be the most technologically advanced vehicle in the FCA portfolio.

the Grand Wagoneer will offer a 12-inch Uconnect infotainment screen that is frameless. The system will, of course, be equipped with the company’s new Uconnect 5 software and will be accompanied by a new passenger-side entertainment that will allow the passenger to have their own screen to customize and be able to access various applications while on the road. A new rear-seat entertainment system will also be available and will build upon the successful Uconnect Theater system found in the current Chrysler Pacifica. The Grand Wagoneer will also feature the new Uconnect heads up display system, coming to several vehicles in the FCA lineup in 2022.

As far as the instrument panel, we are hearing the use of aluminum, premium wood, and leather will cover a lot of the surfaces. The standard gauges will be replaced by an all-new fully-customizable digital cluster that will seamlessly work with the heads-up display (HUD) as well. We are also being told that the new Grand Wagoneer will feature a new electronic rearview mirror system, both the HUD and electronic rearview mirror will also make their debut on the 2021 Ram 1500.

The all-new Grand Wagoneer will also feature a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) option. This will allow the Grand Wagoneer to run solely on battery power for around an estimated 30 miles we are being told. The system will use the new ZF-sourced 8HP hybrid transmission which will also be under the hood of the upcoming Wrangler Unlimited 4xe

The Grand Wagoneer will also have a Level 3 autonomy capabilities, allowing the vehicle to drive on the highway with limited input from the driver. You can also expect other new advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) like Lane Keep Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, driver attention alert, Full-speed Forward Collision Warning-Plus, highway assist system, traffic jam assist system, and traffic sign recognition as standard equipment similar to what was introduced this past year on the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Giulia models.

We can’t wait to see the final product, considering that the Wagoneer nameplate was official announced to return to the lineup back at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in 2011. A decade later, the Wagoneer will return on a proven architecture that has won several awards and has showcased its potential as being the best half-ton pickup platform for the past two model years.

For those who were hoping for a retro-looking Wagoneer model, you will sadly be disappointed. Our sources say that the new Wagoneer will look like a more upscale version of the upcoming 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WL) than the beloved wood-paneled SUV that graced driveways for decades. While that may be upsetting to some, the next-generation Grand Cherokee has been proving to show that the Jeep brand is pushing its future design esthetics by recent spy photos.

Stay tuned as we will continue to breakdown the upcoming Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models as more details become available.
