Four Ram 1500 Classic Trucks Were Stolen From Warren Truck This Weekend:

Car Thieves Continue To Steal Vehicles From Metro Detroit FCA Plants...

According to WXYZ Detroit, thieves have struck again at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Warren Truck Assembly Plant (WTAP) in Warren, Michigan on Sunday. The Warren Police Department were called to the plant around 3:00 a.m., when suspects crashed through the security gate on West 8 Mile Road and fled, in four brand-new 2019 Ram 1500 Classic pickups.

This seems to be a pattern at several of FCA’s assembly plants around the Metro Detroit area. Over the past year, both the WTAP which currently builds the Ram 1500 Classic and the Jefferson North Assembly Plant (JNAP) that builds the current Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango, have had dozens of vehicles stolen off their lots. The method of the heists is almost identical in all situations, where the thieves will cut chain link fencing to gain access into holding lots and then crash through the security gates, sometimes leaving a damaged vehicle behind and taking off with sometimes up to a half of dozen vehicles.

In October 2018 at the JNAP facility, two juveniles ages 14 and 15, were caught trying to steal vehicles out of the lot, while a 26-year-old was caught the day before, joyriding around in one of the cars stolen from the lot the week before. Less than two weeks later, the plant was struck again by thieves.

As for the WTAP which is currently under an over $1 Billion investment to upgrade and expand the plant to produce the upcoming full-size Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, this seems to be deja vu all over again for the plant. In May 2018, 10 new Ram 1500 Classics were stolen from the plant’s holding lot and left in a convoy, smashing through another gate. Most of those vehicles were recovered the following day, abandoned but undamaged around the Metro Detroit area.

Warren police are looking for four Ram 1500 models that were stolen Sunday. According to the police report, two of the trucks are white, one is red, while the other one is black. No further information was available, but Warren police are asking those who might have information to contact them at 586-574-4700.
