Worried about fuel economy with a big SUV in today’s market? Wagoneer comes standard with the legendary 5.7-liter (345 cubic-inch) HEMI V8 with the eTorque mild-hybrid system. Delivering 392 horsepower and 404 lb.-ft. of torque, the HEMI features a smooth, broad power band, enhanced with fuel-saving technologies that include variable camshaft timing and cylinder deactivation.

What many people don’t understand, is the Wagoneer features a next-generation eTorque system, which has enhancements to several fuel-saving features.

The eTorque hybrid system replaces the traditional engine-mounted alternator with a belt-driven motor generator unit. The motor generator unit works with a 48-volt battery pack to provide quick and seamless engine start/stop, torque addition to the engine crankshaft in certain driving situations, and brake energy regeneration, which improves responsiveness and efficiency. The system enables up to 130 lb.-ft. of torque to be available on initial throttle tip-in.

The Wagoneer features an EPA MPG rating of 16 city/22 hwy/18 combined for 4×2 models and 15 city/20 hwy/17 combined for 4×4 models.
