Jeep® Wagoneer Will Dump The HEMI® From Its Lineup In 2024

HEMI® Makes Way For Standard Twin-Turbo Hurricane Power...

According to various automotive pricing websites, the 5.7-liter and 6.4-liter HEMI® V-8 engines have been removed from the lineup of the Jeep® Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer (WS).

Unveiled in March 2021, the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer were positioned as Jeep’s top-tier models, offering a blend of spaciousness, luxury, and performance. These SUVs are built from the Ram 1500 (DT) platform and initially offered a range of engine choices, including HEMI V-8 options.

For the 2023 model year, the Grand Wagoneer received the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter Hurricane 510 (High-Output) engine as standard equipment. This I-6 powerplant boasts 510 horsepower and 500 lb.-ft. of torque. Alternatively, customers could opt for the reliable 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 at no additional cost. The more widely available but still luxurious Wagoneer model was equipped with the twin-turbo 3.0-liter Hurricane Standard-Output (S.O.) I-6 engine, delivering 420 horsepower and 468 lb.-ft. of torque. This I-6 engine was standard on Wagoneer Series II and III models, while the entry-level Series I model came with the 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 featuring the eTorque mild-hybrid system.

Although Jeep has yet to make an official announcement regarding the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer or Grand Wagoneer, Stellantis fleet information confirms this strategic shift. It appears that the HEMI engines are being phased out in favor of the Hurricane engine lineup, a transition likely to extend across the Ram 1500 lineup as well as the Jeep Grand Cherokee lineup in the near future.
