We Install The Maximus-3 JT Roof Rack System On Our Long-Term Gladiator Rubicon:

Adding More Capability To Our Gladiator...

It’s been a year of ownership with our long-term 2020 Jeep® Gladiator Rubicon and our contributor “Recovering Banker” of Gladiator Gang, has done some light modifications of the truck since buying it. With its Jeep Wrangler sibling being one of the most modified vehicles on the planet, it’s not surprising the Gladiator is quickly becoming one of the most modified pickups in the truck market.

Wanting to add some more capability of our Gladiator, Recovering Banker purchased the Maximus-3 JT Roof Rack system for the Rubicon. The Maximus-3 JT Roof Rack system has the ability to hold overland tents, surfboards, ski equipment, and even kayaks. Using a low profile design, the roof rack adds around 2.5-inches to the roof of the truck.

According to Maximus-3 the JT roof rack system has a load capacity of 1,000 lbs. distributed static load (while non-moving) or 350 lbs. of dynamic load (while moving). The roof rack can be mounted on top of the hardtop or even used with the top-down/or off and includes a 52-inch x 54-inch Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform made from extruded aluminum and composite materials.

The Maximus-3 Mounting System is made of heavy-duty CNC laser cut, press brake formed, welded steel. It is finished with a zinc plating and black extra-fine texture powder coat. The load of the system transfers the load through the factory hardtop to the Gladiator’s sports bar (roll cage).

The roof rack system includes a Maximus-3 satellite antenna relocation bracket, for those Gladiator’s with the satellite radio and allows you to maintain your satellite reception with the rack-mounted. Installation is fairly simple, even for a bunch of novices like us. It does require 8 holes to be drilled in the Freedom Top hardtop as well as a waterproof dual rubber gasket for each of the holes.

The Maximus-3 JT Roof Rack System isn’t cheap, at a Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $1,349.99. Right now Maximus-3 has the system on sale for $1,214.99. Be sure to check out the Gladiator Gang installation video above, and subscribe to the Gladiator Gang YouTube channel. We will be posting the 1-year ownership review on the Gladiator Rubicon soon, so stay tuned.
