The COVID-19 (or Coronavirus) pandemic isn’t stopping the Dodge brand. Hot of the heels of the debut of the 2021 Dodge Durango lineup, the Dodge Law brand is getting ready to release its 2021 law enforcement lineup. It’s a critical time for the brand, as the Ford Motor Company has been under fire the public and the press as employees circulated a letter within the blue oval company to quit building police vehicles due to several situations surrounding the police agencies around the United States and causing a backlash from several law enforcement agencies.
Nevertheless, the Dodge brand is ready to offer its updated 2021 lineup to get more agencies on board with the Durango Pursuit compared to the top-selling Ford Explorer-based Police Interceptor.
The Dodge Durango Pursuit was added to Pursuit (also known as the Enforcer in Canada) lineup in 2018. It was Dodge’s answer to agencies issues with carrying more equipment than ever, and an answer to counter Ford’s best-selling Police Interceptor SUV. The Durango Pursuit is offered in two configurations currently, a Pentastar V6 and a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 offerings. Both engines come standard with all-wheel-drive for maximum tactical performance, all-weather traction, and fuel efficiency.
We expect the 2021 Dodge Durango Pursuit to get some of the goodies featured on the new 2021 Dodge Durango R/T Tow N’ Go package. The Tow N’ Go package adds the R/T’s menacing looks, 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 performance and unmatched towing with best-in-class towing of 8,700 lbs. (the current Durango Pursuit only has 7,300 lbs.), increased top speed of 145 mph, Track, Sport, Snow and Tow drive modes, and a re-tuned SRT-performance exhaust with an unmistakable iconic Dodge exhaust rumble. We also wouldn’t be surprised if the Durango Pursuit featured the four-wheel disc antilock Brembo six-piston performance brakes.
While the Durango has received a huge mid-cycle refresh, the Dodge Charger Pursuit is expected to come into 2021 with minor changes for the new model year. Already, the best-selling law enforcement sedan on the road today, the Charger Pursuit a fuel-efficient package with its Pentastar V6 and rear-wheel-drive setup. For those agencies looking to enforce high-speed areas, the Charger Pursuit with the legendary 5.7-liter HEMI V8 and all-wheel-drive is the choice of many agencies.
The Charger Pursuit offers ballistic door panels for driver and passenger doors (Protection: NIJ Level III+) right from the factory.
