Stellantis Recalls 261 Alfa Romeo Giulias For Fuel Line Sensor Housing
May Lead To Engine Starvation Or Fire...
Stellantis (FCA US) is recalling approximately 261 units of its 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan for a fuel line sensor housing that may crack and leak fuel.
If a fuel line sensor leaks, it could cause fuel starvation in the vehicle’s engine. Vehicle occupants may notice a fuel smell while the engine runs or reduce vehicle performance. A fire could occur if the leaked fuel comes in contact with an ignition source. Fuel starvation may result in an unexpected loss of motive power, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. A vehicle fire could increase the risk of occupant injury and/or injury to persons outside the vehicle, as well as property damage.
The suspect period began on March 23, 2021, when defective fuel sensors were introduced into vehicle production, and ended on April 28, 2021, when the fuel sensors from the suspect batches were no longer used in vehicle production. The suspect population was determined using part traceability and vehicle production records.
