Stellantis Hits 3 Million Vehicles at Argentina’s El Palomar Plant

A Historic Milestone with Eyes on the Future

Stellantis has just reached a major landmark in Argentina: the production of its 3,000,000th vehicle at the El Palomar Automotive Center in Buenos Aires Province. For decades, the El Palomar facility has been one of the most important manufacturing hubs in South America, and this milestone not only celebrates the plant’s long history but also highlights its role in Stellantis’ future strategy.

The three-millionth vehicle to roll off the line is a Peugeot 2008, a symbolic choice that represents the plant’s evolution from building classic icons of the past to producing advanced vehicles designed for the modern market. El Palomar is now the first factory in Argentina to build a vehicle with hybrid technology, cementing its position as a leader in innovation and sustainability.

From Classics to Cutting-Edge –

The El Palomar plant has been around for decades, and during that time, it has produced more than 80 different models and versions from Peugeot, Citroën, and Fiat. These include timeless vehicles like the Peugeot 504, the Fiat 600, and the Citroën C4—cars that shaped Argentina’s streets for generations.

Fast forward to today, and the factory is now building modern small cars like the Peugeot 208 and 2008, both of which have been central to Stellantis’ lineup in the region. Adding hybrid technology into the mix shows just how far the plant has come. It’s no longer just a production facility—it’s an innovation hub.

Stellantis executives were quick to emphasize what this milestone means not just for the company, but for the country.

  • Emanuele Cappellano, Stellantis President for South America, said: “Achieving this milestone in a plant that has always been synonymous with innovation and reference in cutting-edge technologies is a real pride. We start a new stage with the manufacture of Peugeot 208 and 2008 with hybrid technology developed by Stellantis.”

  • Martín Zuppi, President of Stellantis Argentina, added: “Reaching the 3 million vehicles produced in El Palomar reflects not only the trajectory of this plant, but also the talent and passion of our employees. Here, icons such as the Peugeot 504, the Fiat 600, and the Citroën C4 were produced. Today, we continue to write history with the Peugeot 208 and 2008, which mark the new times of mobility in Argentina.”

Their statements reinforce that the plant’s success isn’t just measured in units—it’s about the people behind the operation, the suppliers who support it, and the innovation that keeps it moving forward.

Driving Jobs and Growth –

El Palomar has always been more than just a factory. It’s a cornerstone of Argentina’s automotive industry, providing jobs and fueling the growth of a large local supplier network. By building vehicles locally, Stellantis helps strengthen Argentina’s economy, keeping investment and expertise within the country.

For Stellantis, Argentina is not just another market—it’s a key piece of its South American strategy. Continuing to invest in El Palomar means boosting production capacity, strengthening competitiveness, and ensuring Stellantis maintains a leading position in the region.

Technology and Sustainability at the Core –

What makes this milestone even more significant is the technological progress tied to El Palomar’s journey. Stellantis has been positioning the plant as a reference point for sustainability and advanced manufacturing techniques.

Becoming the first Argentine plant to produce a hybrid vehicle is a clear example. It signals that Stellantis isn’t just focused on volume—it’s focused on shaping the future of mobility in a market that still relies heavily on internal combustion engines.

Looking Ahead –

The production of the three-millionth vehicle at El Palomar is more than just a number—it’s a statement. Stellantis is committed to Argentina for the long haul, ready to balance tradition with innovation.

The Peugeot 2008 that marked this milestone represents the plant’s future direction: modern, sustainable, and competitive vehicles built in Argentina for Argentina and beyond. With Stellantis’ continued investment, the El Palomar Automotive Center is set to remain one of the region’s most important industrial hubs.

As Glauber Fullana, Stellantis’ Vice President of Manufacturing for South America, put it: “This milestone is, first of all, a recognition of the passion, capacity, and commitment of our employees, which make it possible for Stellantis to continue growing in Argentina and the region.”
