SPOTTED: 2025 Ram 1500 REV Electric Pickup Prototype

Caught Charging Off Of The I-70 Corridor In Colorado...

Ram has kept a tight lid on its upcoming 2025 Ram 1500 REV, the brand’s first foray into the competitive electric pickup truck market. Officially unveiled in New York last year, the REV aims to challenge its rivals with a blend of innovation and familiar Ram ruggedness. Despite initial expectations that it would closely resemble the radical Ram Revolution Concept, Ram opted for a more conservative approach, updating the existing body style to enhance aerodynamics and maximize range.

Recently, a keen-eyed observer on Instagram (@hi5_guy) captured a prototype of the Ram 1500 REV at an Electrify America charging station in Frisco, Colorado. Though visibly weathered from rigorous testing along the I-70 corridor, the prototype provided intriguing glimpses into what the production model might offer.

From the front, the design largely echoes the showcased prototypes but with some noticeable differences. The grille appears to feature a simpler black plastic design than the Tungsten-trimmed show truck, possibly due to its prototype status and intensive testing. The vehicle retains essential features like LiDar, parking sensors, and a front-facing camera in familiar placements.

Speculating on the trim level of this prototype is challenging, but it boasts 22-inch wheels akin to those seen on the Ramcharger Big Horn press photos. Chrome towing mirrors, typically found on higher-end Laramie models and above, also adorn this prototype, along with beloved Ram power running boards.

Notably, the front lighting on this prototype differs slightly from the polished appearance of the Tungsten concept, potentially due to optical effects from its Bright White exterior. Unlike the show truck in Detroit, it lacks LED foglights in the lower fascia.

On the side, the charging port design resembles the new Wagoneer S, and it is complemented by a row of green lights indicating the charge status.

The 2025 Ram 1500 REV promises robust performance with dual 250 kW electric drive modules (EDMs), delivering all-wheel-drive capability. A 168 kWh battery pack comes standard, offering an estimated range of up to 350 miles, while an optional 229 kWh pack, extending the range up to 500 miles, will be available in late 2026

The REV is equipped for rapid charging, capable of adding up to 110 miles of range in just 10 minutes, with 800-volt DC fast charging at 350 kW when available. It also features bi-directional charging capabilities, supporting vehicle-to-vehicle, vehicle-to-home, and vehicle-grid applications.

Built on the new STLA Frame designed for full-size EVs, the REV boasts a robust yet lightweight high-strength steel frame optimized for both durability and efficiency. Its aerodynamic profile, enhanced by a full-length belly pan, sets new standards with an estimated .340 coefficient of drag.

Driving dynamics are further refined with a multi-link independent rear suspension and segment-exclusive active-level four-corner air suspension with adaptive damping. This setup offers five modes: Entry/Exit, Aero, Normal, Off-Road 1, and Off-Road 2, ensuring versatility across various terrains.

According to sources close to the project, Ram has encountered difficulties in selecting tires suitable for the REV. The standard Pirelli Scorpion all-season tires, commonly equipped on Ram 1500s with 22-inch wheels, have proven insufficient for the REV’s heavier weight. Reports suggest that these tires have been prone to failure due to the REV’s increased mass compared to conventional Ram 1500 models. While we can’t determine the tire brand on this prototype, the tires that Ram is testing are clearly not the standard Pirelli units.

Autonomous driving features, including Hands-free Active Driving Assist and ParkSense Automated Parking System, underscore Ram’s commitment to advanced technology and safety.
 

As production ramps up at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP) in Michigan, anticipation builds for the arrival of REV models at select Ram dealerships by Q4 of this year. Stay tuned for more updates as Ram prepares to redefine the electric pickup truck landscape.

Hopefully once all the Stellantis brands have fully electric models in their lineup the company will get back to funding and engineering the vehicles people want.
In that near future setting those who want an electric, regardless of brand, can get one, but the majority of people will have other choices that will satisfy their wants and needs. Too many resources have been expended on this green agenda foolishness, now Ram buyers can get back to one of the fundamentals of our Western societies, free choice, free market Capitalism and the sweet world of reality driven by those wonderful gasoline powered vehicles we want to choose knowing full well that the world will survive , its populations survive and life can be good again. Time to get real again, hopefully.

I hope you are right, but one thing scares me. Once they have all their EV’s out and they decide to give us what we want (ICE vehicles), they won’t have money to develop what we want because no one will be buying EV’s, so there will be no “extra” money to fund and engineer what WE want.
I am hoping I am wrong and you are right on this one. I guess the success of the 2026 Hurricane twin turbo inline six ICE Charger sells. Hope it won’t be to late.
