Many people in the Mopar community were quite upset to hear that the Challenger (LA) and Charger (LD) would not be receiving a full styling refresh going into the 2019 model year. However, a bunch of test mules for the 2019 Dodge Challenger have been caught out and about with some interesting features. These particular models were caught by our friends at Real Fast Fotography.
It appears to be a non-Widebody SRT HELLCAT with an SRT Demon hood. Could this mean, that the Demon motor could be trickling down the pipeline of SRT HELLCAT models for the Challenger?
Our sources tell us that with the SRT Demon being a special edition one-year model run, however, that isn’t stopping Dodge//SRT from bringing the powerplant to the masses. Those models will also receive some of the goodies from the SRT Demon, going into the 2019 model year.
Some of these items will include…
- SRT Power Chiller™ liquid-to-air intercooler chiller system
- Line Lock
- Air-Grabber™ induction system
- Standard 8HP95 8-Speed Automatic Transmission
These same sources indicate that the Demon motor will be dialed back to around 800 horsepower to keep that car, “special”.
We can’t wait to see what Dodge//SRT has planned for the Challenger going into the 2019 model year.
