SHOCKING: Meet The All-New Ram 1500 REV Battery-Electric Pickup!

The First All-Electric Pickup From The Ram Brand...

The Ram Truck brand has just made its biggest debut yet with the all-new Ram 1500 REV. This first battery-electric light-duty pickup truck will be featured later today during the Super Bowl in a 60-second commercial called “Premature Electrification.” While the styling isn’t as radical as the Ram Revolution Concept displayed last month, the production RAM REV is a more traditional-looking RAM truck sharing the current RAM 1500s cab and box sides.

The RAM 1500 REV features new fenders, front bumper, hood, and LED lighting elements, along with a light-up RAM badge in the upper grille. There is a charge port in the driver’s side front fender, an eight-lug bolt pattern for the wheels, and a new wheel design.

Around the back are new LED lighting elements that carry into the tailgate, a revised rear bumper, and a revised tailgate design. The truck’s RAM lettering has been updated with the modern font shown on the RAM Revolution concept vehicle.

Inside, the dashboard looks the same as the current RAM 1500 trucks, but we can see the center stack has been updated with what looks to be an even larger screen than the current 12.1″ UConnect system. There is now a passenger screen where the upper glovebox sits on current RAM 1500 trucks. The rotary shifter returns, and we can see a glimpse of the digital gauge cluster that is new for the 2023 RAM trucks. Additional USB ports also seem to have been added to the center console, but we can’t see much else.

Mike Koval Jr., Ram brand CEO, said, “The Ram brand has redefined the pickup truck segment before and will once again with the all-new Ram 1500 REV.” He went on to explain that the brand is committed to bringing the right range of powertrain solutions to its customers and that the Ram 1500 REV will be the first in a lineup of electrified vehicles that will add to its current award-winning truck lineup.

First off, I'm more of a form follows function person, so I like the more conservative styling of the production model.

Second, I'm intrigued by this term used in the FAQ section of the RamREV<dotcom website> "A Ram LEV-ready dealer is a Ram dealer who is authorized to sell or lease a Ram Low Emission Vehicle (LEV)." The term "low emissions vehicle" (LEV) is often used for more than pure battery electrics and includes hybrids and some other alternative fueled powertrains. I suspect there is a lot more to the story of what a Ram LEV-ready dealer is and I would love to know more about this.

Yeah, I'm very happy that they followed the Ford approach, and made it look like a regular pickup truck vs. whatever the cyber truck is supposed to be
