Alfa Romeo Delivers First Tonale Models With A Special Program For Its Early Customers!

The Goal Is To Provide The Highest Levels Of Quality & Customer Experience...

Alfa Romeo has begun deliveries of its all-new Tonale Edizione Speciale, as the first three units were handed over to customers with strong ties to the Italian brand. Those customers will partake in an innovative program where it will be possible to provide their opinions and give important feedback on how the vehicle drives, with a dedicated 24/7 call center being available to them. It is another example of how the customer’s perspective and product quality, are something the Alfa brand is looking to improve on.

The deliveries took place at the renovated “Giambattista Vico” plant in Pomigliano d’Arco, Italy (the home of the new Tonale, and the soon-to-be-launched Dodge Hornet). The facility is one of the most technologically advanced plants in the automotive world. It features a custom-built, state-of-the-art assembly line with unprecedented levels of automation which is aimed to add to the Tonale’s superior quality.

The exclusive Tonale Edizione Speciale is available with the new turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-four-cylinder gasoline mild-hybrid (mHEV) engine first shown on the Jeep® Renegade and Compass e-Hybrid models. The engine delivers 130 or 160 horsepower and 176 ft.-lbs. (240 Nm) of torque, mated to a new 7-speed 7HDT300 dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The new propulsion system includes a built-in 48-volt 15 kW (20 horsepower) electric motor delivering 41 ft.-lbs. (55 Nm) of torque – equalizing to 99 ft.-lbs. (135 Nm) of torque at gearbox input level – which can propel the wheels even when the internal combustion engine (ICE) is turned off. The new e-Hybrid models offer up to 15% lower consumption and CO2 emissions than the previous gasoline models.

The Tonale Edizione Speciale includes 20-inch aluminum wheels, red Brembo® calipers, full LED adaptive Matrix headlamps, and front tinted windows. Inside, there is a 10.25-inch Uconnect 5-based infotainment system with navigation and voice control, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and wireless smartphone recharging.

Each of the Alfa Romeo Tonale Edizione Speciale models includes aluminum paddle shifters, keyless entry, a power liftgate with a hands-free system, a leather-wrapped sport steering wheel, and adaptive cruise control (ACC), and traffic-sign recognition.

“We are obsessed with quality, and it has guided us throughout the Tonale project. Primarily, we are concerned with product quality, but that’s not all. Quality is something the customer experiences from the beginning of the purchase process until the last day of ownership,“ said Francesco Calacara, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing and Communication for Alfa Romeo. “We are confident of Tonale’s quality, which was achieved thanks to the hard work of the team, suppliers, and Pomigliano D’Arco plant. In order to maintain transparent and constant communication, we wanted our first customers to partake in a special program where they can provide feedback on the everyday use of the vehicle.”

Both Calcara and Raffaele Russo, Alfa Romeo’s Manager for Italy were present at the event.
