Maserati North America, Inc. is recalling 524 units of its 2024 GranTurismo and GranCabrio vehicles due to a potential issue with the body control module (BCM) software. This defect may cause an incorrect fuel level display, leading to an unexpected engine stall while driving.

- Production Dates: November 20, 2022 – July 4, 2024
The suspect period was identified based on vehicle production records, which noted that the faulty software was introduced during production starting November 20, 2022. The issue was resolved on the production line by July 4, 2024. This recall does not include vehicles produced outside of this timeframe or equipped with updated BCM software.

The BCM was manufactured by Continental Automotive Systems, Inc. in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
Recall Chronology –
- July 28, 2023: Maserati received a claim regarding incorrect fuel level indications. The fuel gauge showed 1/4 of a tank despite the tank being empty. An internal investigation was launched immediately.
- August 2023 – July 2024: Maserati Engineering and Manufacturing conducted a review to understand potential failure modes and identify affected vehicles.
- July 17, 2024: Maserati S.p.A confirmed the BCM software issue during a Regional Technical Meeting.
- September 5, 2024: Maserati S.p.A decided to initiate a voluntary safety recall. As of this date, there have been 4 customer assistance records, 4 warranty claims, and 2 field reports related to this issue, but no accidents or injuries reported.
Next Steps for Owners –
