Rare 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T SE Emerges After 30 Years

Mopar enthusiasts know that finding an unrestored survivor in great condition is like discovering a time capsule from the golden age of muscle cars. The Noel Automotive YouTube channel recently showcased an incredible find—a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T SE in stunning B5 Blue that had been parked for three decades.

At first glance, this Challenger could be mistaken for a restored show car. The vibrant factory B5 Blue paint gleams in the light, complemented by a white vinyl roof and matching white side stripes. But this Mopar isn’t a fresh restoration—it’s an unrestored survivor that still wears its original factory-applied paint and trim from 1969.

A Rare R/T SE Combination – 

What makes this Challenger special is its rare combination of options. It’s an R/T SE (Road/Track Special Edition), blending performance with luxury. Under the hood lies a 7.2-liter (440 cubic-inch) V8 engine equipped with the legendary SIX PACK carburetor setup, capable of producing 390 horsepower. Of the 76,935 Challengers produced in 1970, only 296 combined the R/T and SE packages with the SIX PACK engine. Narrow that down to cars with a four-speed manual transmission, and you’re looking at just 135 units.

This car’s unique status is further enhanced by its blue-on-blue color scheme. While exact production numbers for this specific color combo are unknown, it’s likely a one-of-a-kind survivor.

Preserved Through Time – 

After suffering engine damage in the 1990s, the Challenger was parked, and its 440 SIX PACK engine was removed for repairs. It wasn’t until recently that the owner decided to revive it, opting for a repair approach that preserved the car’s originality. The engine bay still shows weathering, but it retains its factory-applied orange paint, giving it a raw and authentic charm.

Inside, the Challenger’s cabin remains mostly intact, with optional leather-and-cloth upholstery that shows only minor discoloration. The headliner was replaced, but the original center console, Rallye gauges, and other trim pieces tell the story of the car’s 50+ years of history.

Ready for the Road – 

To make the car roadworthy, Noel Automotive replaced the fuel lines and brake system. Now, this Challenger is ready to hit the pavement again, potentially making appearances at classic car shows.
