This morning, the Ram Truck brand released three photos of the updated 2025 Ram Heavy Duty with the following press release:
“As we approach the reveal of our 2025 Ram Heavy Duty, the engineering teams are conducting final testing on one of the most important performance attributes of our heavy haulers: cooling. As the trucks will be running loose in the wild with the camouflage removed, we wanted to share some quality exterior images with you rather than a badly lit snapshot out the window at 70 mph.
The formal reveal of the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty will take place at a later date. At that time, we will provide more details on design, powertrain, and technology.”
Let’s take a quick look at the photos and see what we can learn from them.
2025 Ram Heavy Duty Chassis Cab Tradesman:
The above photo shows a Ram Heavy Duty Chassis cab, which appears to be a Tradesman trim truck. Based on this image, the Heavy Duties will gain standard LED reflector headlamps following Ram’s route with the 2025 Ram 1500. Also notable is the radar cruise sensor centered on the grille above the front bumper. Again, if they’re taking a page from the 2025 Ram 1500, it’s likely that all Ram Heavy Duty trucks will have adaptive cruise standard across the board.
You can also see the mount for a front camera under the A in the RAM script in the grille. Zooming in on the picture reveals that there is no camera in the housing and that it’s just a dummy housing. This also follows Ram’s move with the 2025 1500s, which will likely reduce parts complexity.
2025 Ram Heavy Duty Laramie Sport
This photo shows what we believe to be a 2025 Ram Heavy Duty Laramie Sport. Compared to the image of the Tradesman Chassis Cab, you can see the uplevel LED headlights with four projectors on each side and accent lighting across the top of the headlight. Looking at the camera housing under the A in the RAM badge, you can see that this one does have a camera fitted for the 360-degree camera system. Again, the new radar cruise sensor is present in the lower part of the front grille, and this looks like a nice update to the Laramie trim level.
2025 Ram 2500 Rebel
Ram also gave us a look at the updated 2025 Ram 2500 Rebel. Wearing what appears to be a new blue color, the updated Rebel shows off its unique front end. Unique to the Rebel (and likely the Power Wagon) is a questionable grille insert design. A lot is going on here, featuring horizontal and vertical bars along with different-sized vertical bars in the rectangular inserts alongside the RAM logo. While I really like this truck’s color and this new headlight design, the grille insert on the Rebel will have to grow on me, if it will at all.
The 20-inch wheels and Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires appear to be a carryover for 2025.
Around back
Ram also provided a rear-end shot of the 2025 Ram 2500 Rebel. Everything appears to be carried over, aside from the attractive new taillight design.
Conclusion
While not a lot has changed on the exterior of the truck, this does look like a handsome update for the most part. While truck guys do get set in their ways, undoubtedly, many loyalists will complain at first and then come around to the new design. We saw this happen with the launch of the 2019 Ram 1500 (DT) and the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty.
I think Ram releasing these photos now is a smart move before they get caught running on the streets from weird angles, focal lengths, or low-quality images that make the trucks look bad. It reminds me of when we were on good terms with Ram, and I was contacted by a spy photographer saying he caught all of the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty trucks uncamouflaged. I called our media contact and said, “Hey, heads up, you’re not going to like this, but I just got sent a ton of photos of the new HDs uncamouflaged.” He laughed and said yep, I figured that was going to happen. This way, Ram gets ahead of it with their professional photos before the engineers drop the camo.
For all the other information, we will have to wait until the trucks’ official unveiling, although we do think we know what is going on with the Powertrains. Of course, stay tuned to MoparInsiders for all the information on the 2025 Heavy Duty lineup as it becomes available.
