Ram 1500 Wins MotorTrend’s 2025 ‘Truck of the Year’

Marks Sixth Time Since 2010, That Ram Has Taken Top Honors...

The 2025 Ram 1500 has solidified its dominance in the fiercely competitive full-size pickup segment by earning MotorTrend’s 2025 ‘Truck of the Year’ title. This accolade comes after weeks of rigorous testing, where the Ram 1500 emerged as a clear winner by excelling in all six evaluation categories: advancement in design, engineering excellence, efficiency, safety, value, and performance of intended function.

MotorTrend editors were particularly impressed by the 2025 Ram 1500’s versatility, highlighted by its robust lineup of trims, which cater to a wide range of preferences and needs. Whether opting for the luxurious Tungsten trim or the rugged off-road prowess of the RHO, the 2025 Ram 1500 provides unmatched flexibility for truck buyers.

Power Under the Hood –

A key factor in the Ram 1500’s victory was the performance of its new twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter HURRICANE I6 engine, which delivers up to 540 horsepower. “The Ram 1500 lineup is a truck enthusiast’s dream from top to bottom, providing power under the hood, efficiency on the road, as well as comfort and luxury inside the cabin,” said Ed Loh, MotorTrend Group’s Head of Editorial.

Complementing its powertrain is a multi-link independent rear suspension and available segment-exclusive air suspension, which set a new standard for ride comfort and handling in the full-size pickup category. This combination ensures that the Ram 1500 excels in both everyday driving and heavy-duty tasks like towing and hauling.

Interior and Technology –

Ram continues to redefine luxury in the pickup segment with its 2025 Ram 1500. The interior boasts premium materials and cutting-edge technology, including:

  • Uconnect 5 system with a massive 14.5-inch touchscreen
  • A segment-first 10.25-inch passenger screen
  • An ultra-premium 23-speaker Klipsch Reference audio system
  • Advanced safety features like Hands-Free Active Driving Assist

“Full-size pickups play in the most brutally competitive segment in the auto industry, and the 2025 Ram 1500 has achieved a solid win with benchmark luxury, off-road capability, and a breadth of trim levels previously not available in pickup truck segments,” said Tim Kuniskis, Ram CEO.

A Legacy of Excellence –

MotorTrend’s rigorous testing process evaluates trucks on a wide variety of metrics, including performance tests at a professional automotive facility, real-world driving scenarios both loaded and unloaded, towing capability, and off-road performance. The Ram 1500 excelled in every area, earning its place at the top of a competitive field of 18 contenders.

I’ll say it again, take all the positive you can get and shout it to the mountain tops.
I’ve also championed a wholistic approach to the current issues at Stellantis by recognizing and taking encouragement from the outstanding gems in the pipeline. Look and see, as they say.
Yes Ram needs a V-8 option, looks like one is on the way, but the Hurricane option and the current Ram architecture, recognized by this award thank you, are truly outstanding complements to all that Ram can be in short order. Imagination works here too.
Going out looking for a nearby mountain, probably in the Catskills here in beautiful New York, really, to do some shouting.
“ Hello everyone, Ram has just won the Motor Trend Truck of the Year ! “ Fact is the Catskills and Adirondacks in New York, honestly, is truthfully another gem that few people realize, indeed right under people’s noses if the care to look and see. Doing a mountain side shout out here too for this amazingly beautiful state.

Certainly and emphatically, really good news to be recognized by C&D and MT both, as the pinnacle in the highly competitive light truck market. What's next, Consumer Reports endorsement? (lol)
I'm looking forward to the new midsize when it comes out.
