Ram 1500 REV Update: Long-Range Model Canceled as Ramcharger Takes the Spotlight

Ram Shifts Focus to the Powerful Ramcharger REEV...

Ram 1500 REV Update –

In a recent development, MoparInsiders.com has learned from reliable sources that the highly anticipated long-range version of the Ram 1500 REV has been canceled. This decision is not particularly surprising, considering last week’s pause on the development of the Chrysler C6X BEV, which indicates that Stellantis is reevaluating its electrification strategy as a whole.

The long-range variant of the Ram 1500 REV, which was set to include a massive 229 kWh battery pack designed to achieve an impressive range of up to 500 miles on a single charge, has reportedly been shelved. This version aimed to provide best-in-class mileage, making it a standout option in the expanding market for full-sized electric trucks.

Notice sent to suppliers informing Ram REV XL cancelation

Meanwhile, the standard Ram 1500 REV, featuring a 168 kWh battery capable of delivering an estimated range of 350 miles, remains on track for production. It is equipped with 800-volt DC fast charging technology, which allows drivers to add up to 110 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

We contacted Ram for an official comment and were informed: “This decision was related to the recent move that created an opportunity to lead with Ramcharger technology.”

Enter the Ramcharger –

2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger Limited Crew Cab 4×4. (Ram).

With the upcoming Ram 1500 Ramcharger recently being pulled ahead, it seems Ram no longer sees the need for the long-range variant of the Ram REV. To recap, the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger is a plug-in hybrid pickup that combines impressive performance with exceptional range and capability. It delivers 663 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque, enabling acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds.

The Ramcharger is equipped with a 92 kWh battery and an onboard 130 kW generator powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine. It targets a total range of up to 690 miles and boasts a towing capacity of up to 14,000 pounds, with a maximum payload of 2,625 pounds. This makes it a versatile choice for both work and recreation, eliminating range anxiety while towing thanks to the onboard generator.

Ramcharger ordering opens in the first half of 2025, followed by the Ram 1500 REV launch in 2026.

As always, stay tuned to MoparInsiders.com for the latest news and updates as they become available.

Pure battery electric trucks do well with fixed routes and designated service areas. The Ram ProMaster EV went on the market and appears to be successful. Commercial fleets are charging their electric vans on level 2 charging stations overnight. Those vans don't need large battery packs. Cancelling the longer range REV seems to be a wise decision. The average consumer is beginning to see through the hype while gasping at the costs of buying and using EVs, especially pickup trucks. I could imagine a REV being used at the airport where I work. The work area is limited in size and there are dedicated parking spaces for airport vehicles. It would be easy to charge overnight. The standard battery pack would be more than enough.

I suspect the Ramcharger has caught the attention of many retail customers. I'm hoping the power train is very successful and proves itself as reliable. At that point Ram should offer a budget REV with the Ramcharger's EDM units and batteries for commercial and municipal users.

Evidence of realistic thinking going on in the board room. I agree with Pat, good decision.

This is probably good news for the brand, they should just cancell the all electric truck completely and put the technology on the shelf, if ford can’t sell a F150 in decent numbers and with GM having two on the market already just shelve it.

They dont seem to think they need to compete in a compact segment of trucks(Jeep truck doesn’t count it’s not a Ram) why do they need an all electric half ton with 3/4 ton wheels.

The Ramcharger is actually pretty genius idea for this segment, would of been better with a 4 cylinder diesel though.

I think something has to be done about the governments always getting involved in manufacturing and changing every 4 years and not worrying about jobs just the environment.

I live in a small town and there are always 4 or 5 people ready to pump my gas at my co-op don’t see anyone standing around at the EV chargers to help.

Ramcharger would not have been better with a 4 cylinder diesel. Added complexity due to emissions, a static drivetrain and one that doesn’t even exist in portfolio. It’s gonna be expensive enough as-is

V6 was the ONLY option. It’s sitting there, paid off, and known. Solid, solid choice
