New Jeep® Wagoneer Collides With Detroit Overpass On Car Carrier!
Gets Wedged Upright Under Overpass...
This past year the Wagoneer nameplate returned as a premium extension of the Jeep® brand. With some setbacks including a semiconductor shortage, quality issues, and continuing rising gas prices, there have been a lot of challenges trying to get the new full-size SUV into the hands of customers. But one customer is going to be waiting a little longer for their new Wagoneer (WS).
On Friday, reports from various online crime spotters around the Metro Detroit area started reporting that a vehicle on the back of a car carrier collided with the Lafayette Ave. overpass on Interstate-94 (I-94) also known as the Walter P. Chrysler Freeway. The area is near a holding lot from the nearby Detroit Assembly Complex (where the current Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango are built).
Judging by the wheels and the equipment, the vehicle that appeared to collide with the overpass was a 2022 Jeep Wagoneer Series III. It seems that Wagoneer was sitting higher than the 14-foot, 4-inches of clearance warning drivers on the overpass.
It didn’t take long for the mess to be picked up and cleared from the Walter P. Chrysler Freeway. But not before several motorists took photos of the new Wagoneer amazing wedged between the overpass and the roadway, standing up on its front end.
A 2022 Jeep Wagoneer Series III 4×4 has a starting U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $76,995 (not including a $2,000 destination charge). Hopefully, that $2,000 for the destination will justify getting to the dealer in one piece after this incident.
