Mopar’s Newest Concept Appears To Be An Electrified Belvedere

Mopar Gives Us More Hints At Their Newest Concept Coming To SEMA 2024...

Mopar has just offered a glimpse of an exciting new concept vehicle ahead of the 2024 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show, scheduled for November 5-8, 2024, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. This year, the performance brand has chosen to revive a classic: the 1967 Plymouth Belvedere. But rather than sticking to traditional muscle car roots, Mopar is stepping into the future by retrofitting this classic model with an electric powertrain.

A Modern Twist on a Classic –

Mopar has a reputation for creating show-stopping restomod builds for SEMA, and this Plymouth Belvedere concept promises to be no different. While many enthusiasts anticipated a powerful HEMI® V8 or a twin-turbocharged HURRICrate I6 under the hood, the latest teaser images and videos suggest otherwise. Instead, the Belvedere is expected to feature an electric powertrain, possibly borrowing technology from the all-new 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack Stage 2 EV. This shift to electric power marks a bold move for a brand deeply associated with high-octane, gasoline-fueled performance.

Preserving Muscle Car Heritage with an Electric Heart –

Mopar’s decision to electrify the Belvedere brings a fresh perspective to the restomod scene, merging classic muscle car styling with modern electric power. This is not the first time Mopar has blended the old with the new for SEMA. Previous projects like the 1971 Dodge Challenger Shakedown Concept, which incorporated a potent 392 HEMI® V8, and the 1968 Dodge Super Charger Concept, featuring a massive 7.0-liter (426 cubic-inch) HELLEPHANT HEMI V8, have set a high bar for creativity. Mopar has also turned heads with unconventional builds like the Lowliner Concept—a 1968 Dodge D200 Camper Special transformed into a sleek, Cummins-powered lowrider.

With the new Belvedere concept, Mopar aims to prove that classic muscle cars can adapt to the evolving automotive landscape while retaining their iconic style. The choice to electrify the Belvedere aligns with broader trends in the industry, as automakers balance nostalgia with modern technology to attract a new generation of enthusiasts.

The full details of the powertrain and performance capabilities for the Belvedere concept remain under wraps, but if Mopar’s past builds are any indication, this restomod will be very controversial once it’s rolled out. As one of the few muscle car brands known for pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, Mopar’s electrified take on the 1967 Plymouth Belvedere might just become a highlight of this year’s event.
