THE SWARM IS HERE: The Dodge Hornet GT Has Arrived At Dealers!

Dodge's First Completely New Vehicle Since 2013, Has Arrived...

After months of waiting, the first initial batch of the all-new 2023 Dodge Hornet GT have begun to arrive in dealer’s showrooms across the United States. It marks good news for those who placed early orders after the vehicle’s unveiling at the Dodge Speed Week event in August.

The Hornet is welcomed addition to the Dodge lineup and to its dealer body, as the brand lost a majority of its sales after the discontinuation of its high-volume people movers: the Dodge Journey and Grand Caravan in 2020.

Launched in its GT form, the 2023 Dodge Hornet is the industry’s quickest, most powerful utility vehicle under $30,000. The GT model is powered by the Hurricane4 engine, a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four-cylinder found under the hood of many Chrysler Group vehicles. The engine features direct fuel injection and engine stop-start technology, providing 268 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque.

Focused on delivering best-in-segment performance, the Hornet GT features a Sport mode, easily reachable by a dedicated button on the steering wheel, that unlocks a sharper throttle, optimized shift schedule, access to full power and torque and a tighter steering wheel feel, and a stiffer suspension setting if equipped with Dual Stage Valve shocks, helping the GT move from 0 to 60 mph in a brisk 6.5 seconds.

Inside, the performance interior follows the driver-focused design that is a calling card of the Dodge brand vehicle lineup. Center stack controls, display screens and more are subtly “tipped” toward the driver, putting the individual in the cockpit at the center of the action. The instrument panel utilizes a wrapped and stitched mid-bolster that extends through the instrument panel and achieves a cross-car read, creating a lighter feeling while adding visual width. Red stitching accents, standard on Hornet, flow throughout the black interior, including on the mid-bolster, seats and armrest. Accents on the vents and center switches provide a slim, technical detail that enhances the performance appearance of the interior.

Premium interior touches include class-exclusive Alcantara seats, with an embroidered Dodge Rhombi logo, included on the Track Pack option. The racing-oriented Alcantara seats feature unique “red crust” accents that visually burst out and gradually fade, highlighting the unique Alcantara seat perforation. Leather seating is standard for the GT Plus, and Dodge made certain to offer optional red leather seats for those seeking more Dodge attitude on the inside.

The Hornet also delivers a technologically advanced user experience, maintaining the Dodge driver-centric user feel through a best-in-class standard 12.3-inch digital cockpit cluster screen and standard 10.25-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment system central display. Combined, the Hornet offers 22.5 inches of in-vehicle display screen space.

Hornet is available in seven exterior colors, all which feature names that go along with the vehicle’s personality. There is Acapulco Gold, Blu Bayou, Blue Steele, Gray Cray, Hot Tamale, Q Ball, and 8 Ball.

This 8 Ball-colored 2023 Dodge Hornet GT AWD, just arrived to Lynch Mukwonago Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep®, Ram in Mukwonago, WI. The vehicle is listed with an MSRP of $34,430.

The design is growing on me.
I feel the need of the misleading whining of some on this site about pricing.
Some facts:
GMC Terrain Average Transaction Price(ATP): $36,852
Toyota RAV4 ATP: $35,718
Chevy Equinox ATP: $32,171
Ford Bronco Sport ATP :$36,680

It feels much smaller than those vehicles, so it's more of a hot hatch.

A Golf R or Civic Type R are $50k, so those are more the competition-ish to me
Hornet GT is $40k
Hornet GT Plus is $46k

Does anyone know if the 9 speed transaxle in the Hornet is based on the ZF design in the mini-van?

Smaller than I imagine but not Bronco Sport small.

The 9-speed is a ZF unit. It is the same design as a the minivan transaxle, but there are minor differences.

I don't feel cramped in the Bronco Sport like I do in the Hornet. I really dislike the Bronco Sport engine. The power train choices in the Hornet place it in a higher bracket. It would compare to some of the Ford Escape trims.

I don't know what the availability of the Hornet will be, but it is hard to make a comparison with vehicles such as the Escape hybrid or the RAV4 Prime hybrid. Those models are only available in limited numbers. The new Lexus UX is disappointing because for some reason they decided to go with the older generation hybrid system. It is important to point out that the entry level price for the Lexus brand is only a few Grand more then the entry level price for the Dodge brand.
