Maserati Takes The All-New Grecale D-SUV To Sweden For Testing!

Cold-Weather Testing Continues For Maserati's Newest SUV...

Maserati is continuing to tease its upcoming Grecale D-SUV, despite pushing its official unveiling back until Spring 2022. This time Maserati is showing off the Grecale cold-weather testing near Lapland, Sweden. Lapland has the coldest climates in Sweden with vast seasonal differences caused by the high latitudes and the interior location.

The Grecale team’s mission is to test the prototypes for cold-weather start-ups and driveability in extreme temperatures. The team checked Grecale’s dynamics on mixed surfaces of tarmac, snow, and ice, as well as maintaining in-car comfort in the harsh weather climate, varying from 0°C (32°F) to as low as -30°C (-22°F) in and around Lapland.

Stellantis engineers also carried out tests to fine-tune the car’s traction, understeer, and oversteer in different drive modes and with varying sizes and types of wheels, to specifically characterize each of the driving modes on offer.

The team also took the all-new Grecale on low-grip handling tracks and high-performance laps on various circuits, testing steering pads on more demanding routes featuring corners, slopes, long straights, and drops, on snowy and icy surfaces.

We are still waiting to hear an official debut date from Maserati. The Grecale should be one if not the best-selling vehicles for the brand, so we can’t wait to see the official details of what is in store for the vehicle and the premium Italian marque.
