SPOTTED: The Ultra-Premium 2022 Jeep® Grand Wagoneer Series III:

The Most Expensive Jeep Ever...

The other day, we showed you exclusive pictures of the upcoming entry-level 2022 Jeep® Wagoneer Series I. While we did get a lot of both positive and negative feedback from fans, the $57,995 entry-level model might not be for everyone. So today, we are looking at the complete opposite side of the spectrum for the new Wagoneer sub-brand.

Enter the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Series III, the most premium model in the Grand Wagoneer lineup. The Grand Wagoneer Series III has a starting price of $103,995 USD ($120,995 CAD) before destination charges. This model is the most expensive Jeep model, ever produced. With the premium price, comes premium content.

To help distinguisher itself from the standard Wagoneer models, Grand Wagoneer models feature a two-tone black accent roof, distinctive hood, front end, grille, unique premium LED lighting, fender flares, and power-retractable side steps as standard equipment. Grand Wagoneer models come with premium LED headlamps, fog lamps, and taillamps, with new “Dynamic Turn Signals” (or sequential turn signals). The new ultra-premium Grand Wagoneer also “welcomes” its passengers with a special “welcome” sequence when approaching the vehicle.

Grand Wagoneer Series III models feature raised aluminum badging with two-piece copperchino-accented letters that add to the refinement and highlight the attention to detail. Standard is a set of multi-spoke 22-inch x 9-inch cast-aluminum wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle RSA 285/45R22XL BSW All-Season Tires.

While the original Grand Wagoneer famously featured extensive use of wood on its exterior, the new Grand Wagoneer features genuine handcrafted Satin American Walnut wood in abundance on the interior. Sculpted Satin American Walnut wood was chosen both for its elegance and durability.

Inside the Grand Wagoneer Series III, is a 12-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen display. Uconnect 5 delivers operating speeds that are five times faster when compared to the previous generation. Grand Wagoneer Series III has a 10.25-inch passenger screen using four new functions like Co-Pilot (which includes Navigation and Device Management), Entertainment (via HDMI or Rear Seat Entertainment Control), Fire TV for Auto, and the ability to view the vehicle’s exterior cameras. The driver will also have a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, which can be customized to fit the needs of the person behind the wheel.

Grand Wagoneer Series III models come standard with a set of second-row captain’s chairs and a fixed center console with a 10.3-inch comfort screen. For those who have larger families, you can opt for a bench seat which allows the Grand Wagoneer to seat 8 passengers comfortably. Second-row passengers also can be entertained with a pair of 10.1-inch Uconnect 5 entertainment screens mounted on the front seatbacks. These screens can access audio and video sources, and even stream Amazon Fire TV for Auto using the vehicle’s onboard WiFi.

Audiophiles, will love the Grand Wagoneer Series III’s premium McIntosh MX1375 Reference Entertainment System, which employs 23 specifically tuned speakers, including one of the highest performing 12-inch subwoofers in the industry, is powered by a 24-channel 1,375-watt amplifier.

The Grand Wagoneer Series III is equipped with the Quadra-Lift air suspension. The four-corner air suspension system allows for optimal ride and aerodynamic performance. Another benefit of the air suspension is the load-leveling capability, which automatically detects load on the suspension from a trailer or payload. The gas pressure increases until the vehicle reaches normal ride height, leveling the vehicle and improving the loaded ride. Additionally, a separate button on the key fob gives the operator the ability to manually lower the vehicle, allowing for ease of passenger entry and cargo loading. The Quadra-Lift suspension can lift the Grand Wagoneer up to 10.1-inches of ground clearance.

Under the hood of the Grand Wagoneer Series III is a 6.4-liter (392 cubic-inch) HEMI V8. This version of the 6.4-liter HEMI is actually a version of the SRT-tuned “Apache” HEMI V8 found on the popular Grand Cherokee SRT and Durango SRT392, instead of the more robust Big Gas Engine (BGE) on Ram Heavy Duty pickups. The 6.4-liter HEMI has been tuned more of a refined experience rather than performance. The 6.4-liter HEMI V8 delivers 471 horsepower and 455 lb.-ft. of torque, delivering class-leading V8 best-in-class towing capability.

For those who are looking for a rugged SUV to tow the boat, camper, or snowmobile trailer for that weekend away from home, the Grand Wagoneer Series III will be a great choice with its best-in-class towing capacity of 9,860 lbs.

The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Series III is available in ten exterior colors. Those colors include Diamond Black, Bright White, Luxury White, Silver Zynith, Baltic Gray, Velvet Red, River Rock Blue, Midnight Sky Blue, Rocky Mountain Green, and Ember Red.

Looks great... Other than it being labeled a Grand Cherokee in all of the pics.

It’s satisfying to have some of your opinions validated or acknowledged, and this Grand Wagoneer does just that for me I believe. I commented on the drab base Wagoneer, dressed down for testing and agreed with many, that it did nothing in that garb to elevate the line. But here in we see a stunning, certainly costly, Grand Wagoneer that does justice to the brand and the halo model this line was designed to fill. Acknowledged as a “sub-brand” by our author Wagoneer expands the Jeep brand into serious territory and in so doing makes it clear that Jeep has lofty goals on a global scale. The explosion of updates and launches, electrification and new markets speaks to a determined Jeep that is driving to be the best selling vehicle brand in the world, period. As I stated, it may be premature to bet for or against these ambitions to be an SUV brand that is THE global sales leader but Jeep’s intentions are not modest or geographically limited, they are in it full bore. My losing wagers yesterday on the Derby makes it clear I have no place gambling on anything, but the stakes I laid out for Jeep can’t be lightly dismissed or bet against. As I said, “stay tuned”.

I hate to say it because I was looking forward to the wagoneer being released, until I saw it. Jeep makes some of the best looking vehicles on the road but the wagoneer and grand wagoneer are the least attractive vehicles made by Jeep, maybe ever.

Still can’t get over the “front wheel drive” proportions of the GW (I’ve even seen one “in person” up close). Specifically the “extended” front overhang which is not typical for a Jeep. Quite a departure from the look/proportions of the past RWD based Jeeps e.g. current Grand Cherokee (WK2), WK, ZJ & XJ. Maybe trying too hard maximizing cabin space?

Got passed by a GW yesterday, bearing Michigan plates, heading southbound towards Indy on I-69, south of Ft Wayne. First one I've seen IRL.
