Murder Suspect Gives Chase In Grand Caravan Minivan Through Metro Detroit!

Chase Ends With Wild Ending...

***NOTE*** Video contains explicit language towards the end of the video that might not be safe for work.

While minivans continue to be a popular choice of people mover for many American and Canadian families out there, the last generation of Dodge Grand Caravan was the best-selling offering in both countries. So with 15 million minivans on the road, it is bound that a few of the beloved family haulers would end up on the wrong side of the law.

On Monday, August 30th, the U.S. Marshall’s undercover agents with the U.S. Marshall’s service requested that the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office assist in making a traffic stop on a homicide suspect. The suspect vehicle was a late model Dodge Grand Caravan that was being followed by U.S. Marshall’s undercover agents. It wasn’t long after that a Macomb County Sheriff sergeant spotted the minivan and the suspect began to flee by driving on the shoulder of the road.

A pursuit began, leading law enforcement on a wild chase that went through several of Metro Detroit’s suburbs at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The suspect was ultimately apprehended when a second Macomb County Sheriff’s deputy took out the Grand Caravan with the assistance of several other officers, in a pretty remarkable fashion.

The suspect, who was wanted for homicide in the state of North Dakota, and his passenger were taken into custody without injury. The deputy that ultimately ended the chase received non-life-threatening injuries from the impact that ended the pursuit. If you pay close attention, you can even see his airbags do deploy and he still manages to exit the vehicle with his gun drawn at the suspect vehicle to much surprise.

The video shows the calm and collectiveness of the Macomb County Sheriff sergeant during the pursuit to give great feedback to his fellow officers. All while trying to navigate oncoming traffic, intersections, and sidewalks and making fast on-the-fly decisions to take out the Grand Caravan before it caused another accident, as it did towards the end of the video.
