The awards keep on coming for the Jeep® brand. This time the all-new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WL) and the 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 4xe (JL) have taken home titles at the “Adventure Vehicles of the Year” honors. The Grand Cherokee was named “Best SUV” and the Wrangler 4xe was named “Best 4×4” at the annual Adventure Vehicle of the Year awards presented by GearJunkie.
2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WL) –
The fifth-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee builds on its legacy as the most awarded SUV ever, bringing an all-new architecture, new plug-in hybrid powertrain, all-new exterior design, an all-new interior with world-class craftsmanship, and first-to-market technologies to the global full-size SUV segment. As the most capable SUV brand pushes toward its future of “Zero Emission Freedom,” the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee will be the most technologically advanced and 4×4-capable Jeep Grand Cherokee yet.
For the first time ever includes a three-row option with the new Jeep Grand Cherokee L, which wowed GearJunkie editors with its capability and comfort.
“We got behind the wheel of every trim level, drove both the V6 and V8, and experienced both the two- and three-row versions of the all-new Grand Cherokee,” said GearJunkie motors editor Bryon Dorr. “We also got a chance to tow with it, drive hard on curvy mountain roads, and even do a little rock crawling. Needless to say, this new full-size SUV from Jeep is ready for adventure.”
2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4xe (JL) –
The Wrangler Unlimited 4xe’s plug-in hybrid powertrain is capable of up to 21 miles of nearly silent, zero-emission, electric-only propulsion, making it commuter-friendly as an all-electric daily driver without range anxiety and the most capable and eco-friendly Jeep vehicle off-road – combined with the open-air freedom that only Jeep Wrangler offers.
The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4xe, which delivers 49 MPGe via its 375-horsepower, 470-lb.-ft. of torque plug-in-hybrid powertrain, impressed GearJunkie editors with its off-road capability, impressive power, and quiet, high-torque powertrain.
Jeep will offer electrification options on each nameplate in the next few years as it strives to become the leader in eco-friendly premium technology. Electrified Jeep vehicles will carry the 4xe badge. Jeep electric vehicles will be the most efficient and responsible Jeep vehicles ever, taking performance, 4×4 capability, and driver confidence to the next level.
“This plug-in hybrid is very much a Trail Rated Jeep, and a near-silent and torquey electric drive is a ton of fun off-road,” said Dorr.
“These awards epitomize why our customers love the electrified Wrangler 4xe and all-new fifth-generation Grand Cherokee so much,” said Jim Morrison, Vice President and Head of Jeep Brand North America. “They’re both best-in-class 4×4 SUVs that deliver legendary Jeep capability and that unique adventurous spirit that only comes from a Jeep SUV.”
