Jeep® Releases Pricing For Wrangler Unlimited 4xe Launch Editions:
Rubicon & Sahara Launch Editions, Now Available...
With production underway of the new electrified 2021 Jeep® Wrangler Unlimited 4xe, Jeep has finally pulled off the covers of its two new Launch Editions for its latest plug-in hybrid. Customers will be able to choose from two different models – the Sahara 4xe Launch Edition or Rubicon 4xe Launch Edition.
What makes the Wrangler Unlimited 4xe so special is its powertrain. Using the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four-cylinder, the direct injection motor uses a twin-scroll, low-inertia turbocharger for exceptional responsiveness and fuel efficiency. The engine allows the Wrangler Unlimited 4xe to have additional range once the initial charge of about 25 miles range is depleted.
The powertrain also uses a high-voltage liquid-cooled eTorque motor-generator mounted at the front of the engine. The eTorque system replaces the conventional alternator and spins the engine for nearly seamless fuel-saving, start-stop operation, and generates electricity for the 400-volt, 17-kWh, 96-cell lithium-ion battery pack located under the rear seat. A second high-voltage motor-generator is mounted to the front of the transmission case and is key for the pure electric operation of the Wrangler.
The electrified powertrain features a total output of 375 horsepower (280 kW), 470 lb.-ft. (637 N•m) of torque, and an estimated 50 MPGe rating. The system can propel the Wrangler to a 0 to 60 mph time in just 6-seconds.
