This new model comes with a modern and spacious interior, providing twice as much storage space, 10-inch digital screens in the cluster and the infotainment system, and front seats with heating and cooling, among other features.

The Mexican-sold models will be available with two different turbo powertrains: 200 horsepower and 221 lb.-ft. of torque turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder coupled to a new 8-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel-drive (4×4), or 180 horsepower and 199 lb.-ft. of torque turbocharged 1.3-liter inline-four-cylinder mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with front-wheel-drive (4×2).

The 2023 Jeep Compass arrives in three different equipment configurations for the Mexican market: Limited Premium 1.3, Altitude 1.3, and High Altitude 2.0. While all Compass models sold in the U.S. and Canada come from the Toluca Assembly Plant in Mexico, only the 2.0-liter models sold in Mexico are built there. The 1.3-liter models will come from the Pernambuco Assembly Plant in Brazil.

Exterior-wise, the 2023 Jeep Compass presents a renewed design that combines first-class workmanship with the iconic Jeep style. The front has been redesigned to project a refined and confident attitude. A more detailed and modern fascia encompasses the new seven-bar grille surrounded by glossy black details that attract attention to the stylized and expressive new LED lights.

The lower grille is proportionally larger to maximize engine cooling while adding a distinctive image to its personalized appearance.

The interior of the 2023 Jeep Compass features a modern and technologically advanced cabin with ample storage space, large doses of comfort, and craftsmanship. The redesigned instrument panel has a center-coated surface supported by a marked accent that extends throughout the panel, perfectly integrating the new air vents of the HVAC system.

The center console is in Gloss Black and houses the 10.1-inch HD touch screen, and the driver’s cab has a new frameless full-color TFT digital group of 7-inch or 10.25-inch, the latter the largest in the segment. The Jeep Compass has the newest and most advanced Uconnect system in history, with a new 10.1-inch digital infotainment screen. The new Uconnect 5 offers an intuitive user experience and operating speeds five times faster than the previous generation.

Jeep Compass offers more than 75 safety and protection elements, including applications of innovative technologies that inspire confidence in driving, a feature for which the Jeep brand is widely recognized. Among the safety elements and systems, both standard and optional in the new Compass, are a knee airbag for the driver, front and rear curtain sides, front bags for the driver and passenger multi-stage and front sides, ABS, Rain Braking Assistance (RBS), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Tire Pressure Monitoring System, and All-Speed Traction Control (TCS).

I would still like to see the 4Xe powertrain offered here in the US. With Mexico getting their 1.3 equipped Compass from Brazil, that places a hybrid option even further away from the northern neighbors. It is interesting that Jeep Mexico doesn't offer the Trail Hawk trim in its Compass lineup.

It will be, but it should be around 2025

This update solidifies Compass as Jeeps compact, FWD offering and it is a good decision. What remains is giving the Cherokee a new slot above Compass as it now is too close in size, engineering and platform attributes at a higher price a position that has eroded its once significant popularity. Cherokee must adopt the STLA Large platform to grow longer, wider, yet two row exclusive and with the RWD architecture that can feature 4, 6 and electric power trains to reboot it’s whole presentation in a midsize SUV, just below the Grand Cherokee two row. The placement in fact should be almost a direct filling of the last generation GC segment with the new Cherokee. This allows Cherokee more capability and a better chance of recapturing it’s lost popularity.
