The European 2024 Jeep Compass comes to market with 4xe plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and e-HYBRID (HEV) powertrains. However, there are some significant changes for 2024 regarding the lineup. Jeep has streamlined the lineup, making production more straightforward and easier for customers to get their favorite and most desired options.
Regarding packaging, the European Compass lineup comes into 2024 with four models – Altitude, Summit, Overland, and Trailhawk. So, what makes them different than the model produced last year is the content.
The “Altitude” trim level boasts exceptional exterior features that enhance its silhouette, including full LED reflectors with signature, chromed DLO, 18-inch aluminum wheels with summer tires, and gloss black mirror caps. The “Summit” model features exterior details such as 19-inch diamond aluminum wheels, a two-tone black roof, LED fog lamps, gloss black painted lowers, privacy glass, roof rails, and LED projectors. The “Overland” model prioritizes performance while incorporating elements of complete quality. Those looking to make their Compass stylish with a tad bit of color have seven exterior colors to choose from. These colors include Colorado Red, Alpine White, Shade Blue, Solid Black, Graphite Grey, and Sting Grey (available on Overland and Trailhawk only). As for the interior, customers can select between Black and Black and Steel Grey with Diesel Grey stitching (for Altitude and Summit), Bronze stitching (for Overland) and Ruby Red stitching (for Trailhawk).
Under the hood, are two powertrains: the e-HYBRID and 4xe. The e-HYBRID powertrain is front-wheel-drive (FWD) only and manages the propulsion system between full electric, hybrid, and internal combustion engines in an automatic way, according to the 48-volt battery state of charge, driving conditions, and other parameters monitored in real-time. The Jeep e-HYBRID is able to deliver full electric propulsion at launch, at low speeds, when cruising, and in parking maneuvers. This solution is designed to auto-recharge the 48-volt battery: it automatically recovers energy while braking or decelerating. This means freedom from external recharge, nevertheless being capable of EV propulsion.
The 4xe powertrain utilizes both the electric and an internal combustion engine, where the increased torque generated by the electric propulsion system and the ability to adjust it with extreme precision ensures even greater four-wheel-drive (4×4) capability on any terrain, for challenging off-road adventures. Simultaneously, it is the ideal vehicle for everyday driving in the city as, thanks to the PHEV electric technology, CO2 emissions are lower than 50 g/km in hybrid mode and the cost of ownership is reduced.
