In March 2023, Jeep® made waves in Italy by securing the eighth spot among the country’s best-selling car brands, according to data from Dataforce, a renowned data collection agency. What’s particularly remarkable is that amidst the vast array of automobile brands in the European market, Jeep managed to carve out its place, capturing 4.31% of the market share.
What catapulted Jeep to this notable position was its all-electric Jeep Avenger (JJ), a compact B-segment UV, which played a pivotal role in bolstering the brand’s presence in Italy. While the Jeep Renegade and Compass typically lead the charge for the brand, it was the Avenger that provided the necessary push to elevate Jeep to the top ten ranks.
Distinctively designed and engineered to embody the essence of Jeep vehicles, the Avenger emanates capability, style, functionality, and cutting-edge technology tailored to meet the demands of today’s connected consumers. Manufactured at the Stellantis Tychy Assembly Plant in Poland, the Avenger boasts standard features like Selec-Terrain® and Hill Descent Control (HDC), ensuring impressive levels of performance and capability, particularly notable in its approach and departure angles and ground clearance.
Tailored specifically to cater to the preferences of European customers, the Avenger’s compact dimensions, measuring just four meters in length, position it aptly within the burgeoning B-UV segment, which ranks as the second largest in Europe in terms of volume.
Powered by a 400-volt electric powertrain developed by Emotors, a joint venture between Stellantis and Nidec Leroy-Somer Holding, the Avenger delivers an impressive performance, with an output of 115 kW (156 horsepower) and 260 N⋅m (192 lb.-ft.) of torque. Its 54 kWh battery, crafted for high energy density and extended usability, ensures a range of 400 kilometers (249 miles) according to the WLTP cycle, extending up to 550 kilometers (342 miles) in urban conditions.
The Avenger’s battery, meticulously tested over two million kilometers, ingeniously integrated beneath the front and rear seats and central tunnel, ensures minimal intrusion into the vehicle’s cabin space. Additionally, it is safeguarded by a robust ground clearance and underbody skid plates, making it resilient even in off-road terrains.
Charging the Avenger is a breeze with a 100 kW Mode 4 cable for direct current (DC), offering rapid charging capabilities. Just three minutes of charging can provide a travel distance of 30 kilometers (18.6 miles), while 24 minutes suffices to charge the batteries from 20% to 80% capacity. Moreover, with an 11 kW Mode 3 cable for alternating current (AC), users can charge the Avenger from 0% to 100% in approximately 5.5 hours using a Mopar Wallbox or a public charging station.
Considering the average daily travel distance of most European users, which falls within the range the Avenger can cover on a single charge, it offers unparalleled convenience and efficiency.
