Jeep® Introduces Its Dual-Door Group For Its 2021 Wrangler Lineup:

Two-Options Are Available For Sport, Rubicon, Rubicon 392, and 4xe Models...

Back in October, MoparInsiders.com broke the news that the Jeep® brand was hard at work at a new half-door option for its iconic Wrangler model. The new half-door option was introduced by the brand with the debut of the new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 392 model in November after years of touting to the public that an option was in the works.

This morning the Jeep brand along with Mopar has officially announced the pricing for the dual-door option on the Wrangler. Engineered, tested, and backed with a factory warranty, the new half-door option allows Wrangler owners to enhance their open-driving experience. Available on both the two-door and four-door (Unlimited), when ordered during a new vehicle purchase, the new half-doors come painted in a matching exterior-color and are packaged inside the vehicle during delivery.

The new half-door design works with features like power mirrors, blind-spot detection, passive and non-passive door handles, and power locks. The new door design can be swapped within minutes thanks to using the existing hinge locations and the exact same wiring connections and the stock full-doors.

One of the most asked about details has to be the upper-window assemblies. The new upper-windows are made with a weather-tight seal and feature zippered plastic windows for easy and quick removal. A lot of people have complained about the quarter-window design, but according to the engineer we talked to, they were designed to have the design that would be the easiest to zip up and down. A traditional square pattern opening allows the fewer amount of issues and having the added black vinyl in front of the zipper window would hinder the driver’s view outside the vehicle, so the plastic quarter-windows were incorporated into the design.

Two materials are offered for the assemblies. A base-model vinyl that matches the production soft-top roof or a premium acrylic that matches the premium soft-top roof is available. Each of the upper-door frame sections uses an easy, tool-free, dual-guide post feature for easy installation and removal.

Mopar did not say or not if the doors will be available through Mopar.com or local dealers upon the release of the production of the doors on the 2021 models. Mopar also did not discuss if an option for the Gladiator would also be available or if the new design would work with the Gladiator’s soft-top options.

The Dual-Door Group with the base-model vinyl upper-window assemblies (sales code AJB) have a U.S. Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $2,350 for the two-door Wrangler and $3,995 for the four-door Unlimited models. Those who opt for the premium acrylic upper-window assemblies (sales code AJS) have a U.S. MSRP of $2,550 for two-door models and $4,395 for the four-door Unlimited. Both options are included as part of the new-vehicle warranty of 3-years/36,000 miles.

Both two-door and four-door Unlimited models our spy photographers caught prior to this article being written captured the half-door models with hard-top options. According to the Jeep.com Build & Price configurator, the new Dual-Door Group with the premium acrylic upper-window assemblies can be equipped with the premium black Sunrider soft-top, standard hard-top, body-color hard-top, and Sky-One Touch Power-Top options.

The Dual-Door Group is available on Wrangler Sport, Rubicon, Rubicon 392, and 4xe models.
