Goodbye MC20, Hello MCPURA: Maserati’s Next Evolution Arrives
Maserati Redefines Its Flagship Super Sports Car

Maserati just dropped the curtain on its latest exotic machine – the MCPURA – at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK. It’s the brand’s boldest and purest statement yet, an evolution of the MC20 that first reignited Maserati’s performance lineup back in 2020. Built entirely in Modena, Italy, the MCPURA shows off what the Trident brand does best: blend cutting-edge racing technology with luxury, craftsmanship, and Italian flair.

Let’s break it down in simple terms: the MCPURA is a mid-engine, carbon-fiber-bodied supercar that sticks to Maserati’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter Nettuno V6 engine, making 621 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque. No hybrid system, no gimmicks—just pure combustion fury. That means a stunning power-to-weight ratio of 2.33 kg per CV, thanks to a chassis that weighs under 3,300 pounds (1,500 kg). It revs to 7,500 rpm, and Maserati’s unique Formula 1-inspired pre-chamber ignition system gives it serious racing cred and throttle response.
The MCPURA name itself blends “MC” (for Maserati Corse, the brand’s racing division) and “pura,” the Italian word for pure—a nod to its unfiltered performance philosophy. It’s available as both a hardtop coupé and a Cielo convertible, the latter featuring an industry-first PDLC (polymer-dispersed liquid crystal) retractable glass roof. That means you can go from opaque to transparent in just one second. Add in butterfly doors, and the MCPURA is nothing short of exotic.

Maserati debuted the car in a stunning custom matte finish called Ai Aqua Rainbow (glossy on the Cielo), part of the Fuoriserie personalization program. The color shifts under sunlight like a prism, and the accents—badges, trim, and wheels—are done in a unique magenta with blue mica tone. Inside, the Alcantara Ice seats are laser-etched with the Trident logo and feature iridescent red-blue accents that echo the car’s exterior.
Maserati’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) Santo Ficili summed it up best: “With MCPURA, Maserati is once again regaining its rightful place: at the top and in its stomping ground.”

Built at the legendary Viale Ciro Menotti plant in Modena, the MCPURA represents more than a car—it’s a statement that Maserati is back. The same factory is responsible for assembling the GT2 Stradale, the Nettuno engine, and soon the GranTurismo and GranCabrio models. It’s also where Maserati’s most exclusive customizations are handled through the Fuoriserie program.
The MCPURA comes in an array of specially developed paints, including Devil Orange, Verde Royale, and Night Interaction, with over 30 total options spanning solid, metallic, matte, and multi-layer finishes.

Despite critical praise, the MC20 didn’t become a sales blockbuster—but with the MCPURA’s striking design, handcrafted detail, and no-compromise performance, Maserati is hoping to make a bigger dent in the supercar scene. No electric motors. No watered-down branding. Just Italian horsepower and attitude.
