Half-Ton Off-Roader Going To Asia In Limited Numbers...
The Ram Truck brand is continuing to expand the global presence of its fifth-generation Ram 1500 lineup. Ram Cambodia has announced that the addition of the popular Ram 1500 Rebel to its growing portfolio. Currently, Ram Cambodia offers a trio of models including the Limited Longhorn, Laramie, and Laramie Night Edition pickups through Ram officially licensed importer HGB Group.
The Cambodian market 2021 Ram 1500 Rebel Crew Cab 4×4 pickups, will feature a standard 12-inch Uconnect 4C infotainment system with navigation, a 19-speaker Harmon Kardon premium audio system, and Rebel exterior graphics package from Mopar.
The Rebel will be powered by the legendary 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 delivering a robust 395 horsepower and 365Nm (410 lb.-ft.) of torque. The Rebel’s ability to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in just 6.4 seconds, makes it stand out against most of the smaller vehicles offered in the country. It is backed by the 8HP75 TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission with more than 40 individual maps to optimize gear changes and provide more fuel economy, performance, and handling.
Speaking of four-wheel-drive, the Rebel’s part-time BorgWarner 48-12 transfer case offers 4×4 HI and 4×4 LO models. The driver can control everything electronically, using buttons next to the Ram 1500’s rotary gear selector on the instrument panel. The entire traction system is characterized by robustness, translating into the off-road capability of the Ram 1500 Rebel and the power to tow 5,062 kg or 11,160 lbs.
The truck features six airbags (including front, side, and curtain), Hill-Start Assist, traction, stability controls, as well as mitigation of body-roll, and the largest available front brakes at 14.9 inches for superb stopping distance.
The 2021 Ram 1500 Rebel also features a semi-autonomous parallel and perpendicular parking system (Park Assist), which includes front and rear parking sensors. The Ram 1500 also has adaptive speed control (ACC) with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, Lane Departure Warning-Plus, thanks to the use of electrical assistance in the direction, and oscillation control of trailer (TSC).
A limited number of Rebel models will be sent to the Asian country. Ram Cambodia has released a number of materials promoting the addition of the Rebel to the lineup with several social media posts. The post state that the truck would have a ‘special price’ of about $79,990 USD. Each Rebel will come with 3 years or 100,000 km (60,000 miles) of certified warranty.
Considering the average Cambodian earns less than $10,000 USD a year, we expect that the Rebel will be aimed at the elite. As of this writing, HGB Group has yet to return our messages in regards to how many units they are planning to sell in the market.
