Here Is Why The 2023 Dodge Charger GT AWD Is One Of Our Favorite Picks!

Better Fuel Economy, 300 Horsepower, AWD Capability, & SRT Looks...

As the only four-door muscle car on the market, the Dodge Charger continues to offer one of the most diverse lineups in the automotive industry. Basically the Swiss army knife of the sedan market, the Charger can be ordered from a 300 horsepower V6 with optional all-wheel-drive (AWD) to an 807 horsepower rear-wheel-drive (RWD) that makes it the fastest, most powerful, mass-produced sedan in the world.

Although the latter proves to be out of reach for many, Dodge continues to improve its mid-range offerings. In a world of high gas prices, record-high inflation, and growing interest rates, the Charger soldiers on and continues to impress. And while the Hellcat Redeye may be a performance favorite, the V6-powered GT AWD continues to be our favorite everyday driver of the lineup.

The Dodge Charger GT AWD delivers all-weather driving confidence wrapped in the Charger’s trademark muscle car attitude. Both Charger GT RWD and AWD models feature the performance looks of the Scat Pack models with a performance hood, facia, spoiler, high-bolstered seats, and performance steering wheel with paddle shifters.

Under the hood is the award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, which delivers 300 horsepower @ 6,350 rpm and a responsive 264 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4,800 rpm. The Pentastar is paired with the fast-shifting 8-speed TorqueFlite (850RE) automatic transmission, which allows the full-sedan to achieve an EPA-estimated 18 MPG city/27 MPG hwy (12.4L/100 KM city/7.8L/100 KM hwy). A tuned induction system and dual exhaust from the manifolds back to the tips help deliver more than 90% of the engine’s peak torque from 1,800 to 6,400 rpm – all for outstanding drivability and responsiveness.

The Super Track Pak button activates Dodge Performance Pages and launch control features embedded in the 8.4-inch touchscreen radio. Visible performance information, such as reaction times, 0 to 60 mph (0 to 96 km/h) times, G-force indicator, and lap times, can be monitored, and even mirrored, in the 7-inch thin-film transistor (TFT) customizable cluster display. The Charger GT AWD model also features three-mode ESC with “full-off” mode, a fun feature for drifting through snowy or wet scenes.

Charger GT’s AWD system features an active transfer case and front-axle-disconnect system to improve real-world fuel economy. The AWD system seamlessly transitions between RWD and AWD with no driver intervention. When AWD is not required, the system automatically disconnects the front axle to maximize fuel economy. When the front wheels are disengaged, 100% of the engine’s torque is directed to the rear wheels

Enhanced with Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), the Charger GT AWD has impressive handling on all surfaces, especially snow and slush. VDC provides excellent traction on slippery surfaces and also helps the driver maintain the desired vehicle path. Enhancing the on-road dynamic performance using precise front-to-rear torque control integrated with the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system, VDC maintains the fun-to-drive character of the Charger, regardless of road conditions.
