FIRST LOOK: Brazilian-Spec 2023 Jeep® Renegade Trailhawk 4×4:
Turbo 1.3, Updated Looks, & More Technology...
The Jeep® Renegade continues to be the hottest-selling SUV in Brazil. As the American adventure brand’s second-biggest market, Jeep takes Brazil very seriously. In August, our friends from the Brazilian automotive website “AutosSegredos” sent us some spy photos and details of a 2023 Jeep Renegade prototype in camouflage aimed at the Brazilian marketplace.
Now, the Jeep brand is teasing its updated Brazilian-built Jeep Renegade and releasing some details in the process. The vehicle’s first video teaser shows the off-road-oriented Trailhawk in action. We clearly see the T270 badge, indicating that the turbocharged 1.3-liter “FireFly” inline-four-cylinder from the Stellantis Global Small Engine (GSE) family will join the lineup for 2023.
In the Brazilian market, the T270 engine features flex-fuel capability and delivers 185 horsepower on ethanol (180 horsepower on gasoline) and 210 lb.-ft. (270 Nm) of torque. The engine will be available in both front-wheel-drive (4×2) and four-wheel-drive (4×4) configurations.
The 22-second teaser video features the silhouette of the “Trail Rated” 2023 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk tackling the Brazilian landscape. The new Renegade Trailhawk showcases its new T270 engine badging as it overcomes off-road challenges, such as a huge mud puddle, 45-degree descent downhill, swampy stretches with water, and roads of sand and stones.
Our good friend Marlos Vey Nidal, Editor in Chief of AutosSegredos recently got invited to spend some time behind the wheel of 2023 Renegade. While he couldn’t show or discuss all the details surrounding the new Renegade, we get to see the new Renegade in action for the first time. You can watch the his drive above (you can use auto-generate features to watch the subtitles in English).
Marlos, did confirm that the 2023 Jeep Renegade will fact get the new Jeep brand steering wheel, that we did see in the new 2022 Jeep Compass as well as the all-new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L models. He also stated that the new Renegade will integrate a new digital gauge cluster, similar to what Jeep has been installing in other models across its portfolio.
