Fiat Professional just dropped a serious game-changer in Europe — the all-new all-electric eDucato Cargo Box BEV. The latest version of the popular work van is now rolling off the line at the Atessa Assembly Plant in Italy, and it’s generating excitement. Why? Because it brings together everything business owners and fleet buyers want: huge storage space, quick charging, and emissions-free operation.

This isn’t just another panel van with batteries. The new eDucato Cargo Box BEV is a factory-built solution based on the battery-electric Chassis Cab version of the van. That means this isn’t a conversion — it’s built from the ground up for the job. It can handle a massive 18.3 cubic meters (646 cubic feet) of cargo, or even 20.5 m³ (724 cu. ft.) in the longer L4 variant. That’s serious capacity for a fully electric vehicle in this class.
Need more? Fiat is offering flexible configurations, including side doors, tailgates, liftgates, and overhead interior storage. In fact, the most spacious setup offers a whopping 22 m³ (777 cu. ft.) of usable cargo room. That’s more than enough to haul large goods, fleet equipment, or upfit it as a rolling service center.

Powering this beast is a 200 kW (270 horsepower) electric motor and a big 110-kWh battery, offering up to 323 kilometers (201 miles) of range under the WLTP test cycle. The real headline, though, might be the new 22 kW onboard AC charger that cuts full charging time in half, down to just 6 hours. Perfect for overnight top-ups and ready for work the next day.
Here’s where it gets interesting for us in North America: could this all-electric box van be a preview of things to come for the Ram ProMaster EV? The current ProMaster is based heavily on the Ducato platform, and Ram has already confirmed that an electric ProMaster is coming to U.S. dealers. But so far, no word yet on a factory box truck version — the kind of vehicle that’s a staple for delivery companies, electricians, and tradespeople.

Given that Fiat is building these right at the plant — under Stellantis’ CustomFit program — it’s not a stretch to imagine Ram offering something similar soon. That would make Ram one of the only automakers to offer a factory-ready, electric box van in North America, skipping the aftermarket conversions and delivering a purpose-built solution from day one.
There’s also big potential in the RV world. In Europe, 75% of camper vans are built on the Ducato platform, and now that includes a BEV. Ram could tap into the same demand here for a zero-emission motorhome base. Especially with the growing interest in sustainable travel, a Ram ProMaster EV camper is sounding more and more like a smart move.

With Stellantis investing heavily in electrification across all its global brands, the move to offer a cargo box variant of the eDucato may be the blueprint for what’s next from Ram. We’ll be keeping an eye out — because if Ram brings this over, it could be a real game-changer for fleets, trades, and upfitters across America.
